Hello! I have a shy but sweet nearly-6-year-old boy who I'm hoping to start on the piano soon and I want to find him a local(ish) piano teacher who he could really connect with and have fun with. We may not send him down the piano grades route (I never took to piano exams too well) but I really want him to enjoy playing an instrument.

Any recommendations or referrals would be gratefully received!

Hello,

My name is Natalie.  I teach piano from my home in Nunhead, and have available slots on most days of the week, after school and during the day, for piano lessons.  I am a singer and guitarist as well as a teacher of piano, perform in bands, and am a specialist and accredited Suzuki Piano teacher.  Whilst this is a specialism in teaching children, I teach all ages, and styles.    I can submit students for exams, classical and rock and pop, and hold regular end of term concerts.

I charge £25 for half an hour.   Children start with a half hour lesson, adults 45 min.

My phone number is 07730 402336 if you would like to get in touch.  References available.  DBS Checked.

Natalie.

Hi

I really recommend Nia who advertises her classes in the forum

I struggled through years to motivate my daughter to have her piano lessons until we met Nia , she is kind , patient and fun. She has a very good ability to connect to kids and my daughter has massively improved her piano technique

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
