Just had my roof replaced by Danny (mobile 07943 673482) who I would highly recommend. He is honest, clean, reliable and explained the work and sent photos as the work progressed. His initial estimate for costs was detailed and close to the actual price of the job.

Another recommendation for Danny here!  After carrying out extensive work on our property in 2018, we have constantly had problems  with the newly built roof.  Then followed numerous fixes and bodges by the builders then by other so called 'experts' and professionals' charging extortionate amounts and / or giving guarantees that amounted to nothing.  Lots of 'it could be this and that etc...'  Sadly our tale of woe is not uncommon.

After getting a number of people to look at the roof - the consensus was that the whole roof needed redoing (it was clear that by now the roof looked a mess with multiple things done wrong or poorly).  We obtained quotes and decided to go with Danny - his was the most competitive but it was not overriding factor behind why we did.  Danny made clear what the quote covered and where there might be extra work required as he got to it (this was fairly minor).

He was easy to get a hold of and responded promptly and he was also happy to offer up refences which I did contact and all were happy to vouch for him.

Minor downside was that we had a bit of a wait, but it was worth it.  When work started I was kept updated with progress and photos.  Issues were dealt with, and although I'm not an expert by any means the appearance of the work was top.  Most importantly we are leak free!

I'd have no issues at all recommending Danny.  Feel free to PM me.

Needed a new rear roof for terrace house in East Dulwich and heard about Danny Denton (07943 673482). Have worked with over 20 builders in the past but this guy was way the best - polite, hard working, honest, professional, informative, highly skilled and above all quoted lower than any of the others who came down to view the job. If you need roofing work I would definitely give him a call. If he's busy working else where I assure you he is well worth waiting for. He got the scaffold up and job finished in no time and kept me informed at every stage. Another roofer (who appears on this forum) gave a quote which was three times higher than Danny's.

We had what looked like a slipped tile on our rear roof, but turned out to be multiple broken tiles needed replacing (hidden by the flashing).

This was probably a trivial job for Danny compared to the other projects on this thread, but he was quick to quote, able to fit our job in at short notice and did not charge extra for fixing the extra issues found.

Danny also explained to me the issues he found with some previous work before he went ahead, so I had a good idea of exactly what was needed beyond the original slipped tile issue.

I would 100% recommend Danny - 07943 673482.

Danny Denton and his team have just replaced our rear roof in East Dulwich, they were a pleasure to work with. Danny was communicative throughout the process, knowledgeable, hardworking and competitively priced. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Thanks Danny!

Danny re-tiled and generally cleaned up the roof tiles on our front bay in SE22 a few weeks ago.

He was fairly priced, and although the scope of the work changed slightly (something we couldn't have foreseen before removing the existing tiles), the price remained the same for the job.

He and a colleague worked hard for three days (one more than initially planned) through pretty grim weather. With anything unexpected, he came to me with solutions rather than problems. They were polite, courteous, and left the site as tidy as they could after cutting roof tiles in the driving rain!

    • Had council stock not been sold off then it wouldn't have needed replacing. Whilst I agree that the prohibition on spending revenue from sales on new council housing was a contributory factor, where, in places where building land is scarce and expensive such as London, would these replacement homes have been built. Don't mention infill land! The whole right to buy issue made me so angry when it was introduced and I'm still fuming 40 odd years later. If I could see it was just creating problems for the future, how come Thatcher didn't. I suspect though she did, was more interested in buying votes, and just didn't care about a scarcity of housing impacting the next generations.
    • Actually I don't think so. What caused the problem was the ban on councils using the revenues from sales to build more houses. Had councils been able to reinvest in more housing then we would have had a boom in building. And councils would have been relieved, through the sales, of the cost of maintaining old housing stock. Thatcher believed that council tenants didn't vote Conservative, and home owners did. Which may have been, at the time a correct assumption. But it was the ban on councils building more from the sales revenues which was the real killer here. Not the sales themselves.
    • I agree with Jenjenjen. Guarantees are provided for works and services actually carried out; they are not an insurance policy for leaks anywhere else on the roof. Assuming that the rendering at the chimney stopped the leak that you asked the roofer to repair, then the guarantee will cover that rendering work. Indeed, if at some time in the future it leaked again at that exact same spot but by another cause, that would not be covered. Failure of rendering around a chimney is pretty common so, if re-rendering did resolve that leak, there is no particular reason to link it to the holes in the felt elsewhere across the roof.
    • Hey, I am on the first floor and I am directly impacted if roof leaks. We got a roofing company to do repair work which was supposed to be guaranteed. However, when it started leaking again, we were informed that the guarantee is just for a new roof and not repair work. Each time the company that did the repair work came out again over the next few years, we had to pay additional amounts. The roof continues to leak, so I have just organised another company to fix the roof instead, as the guarantee doesn't mean anything.
