Experienced old-school plumber

Recommended Posts

We have a very old heating system / with a newer boiler in our house, which is turning off every day so we regularly have no heating. It's a hangover from the old owners but we would like to make do if possible as we are about to refurb including the plumbing so I would rather not replace anything major now.

I would like to find an experienced plumber who is better able to understand an older, imperfect system and crucially how to repair them, with the knowledge that it's by no means perfect!!!!

My ideal would be to fix it up temporarily if we can. Most plumbers just come in and tell me the boiler is in the wrong place, which is of course right, but not extremely helpful to us right now.

Ultimately we might have to replace it but I would love someone experienced to take a good look at it to see if we can repair it first.

Pls PM your deets and I can give you a call.

    • I haven't had a rude EVRI delivery but last week I had an unexpected delivery at 10.42 pm. He didn't ring the bell or knock on the door (or rattle the letter flap) but just took a photo and put the box down.  If it hadnt been for the door camera giving us a beep we would never have known there was a parcel ready to sit there all night.

    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
