Just wanted to let people know about a fantastic carpenter called Richard Williams who I found on mybuilder.co.uk. He came and refurbished one of our Sash windows last week.  It looks so good I’m having him do more. It’s hard to find people who will repair and paint sash windows and also who are fairly priced. Would highly recommend him. Diligent, tidy and a great craftsman. His number is 07985 161256

I’m not sure if this is the right place for my question; mods can move it to another section if needed.

Might seem like a bit of a dumb question but can I seal between a window and the wooden frame with dry seal by Dryflex? My porch has a very basic wooden frame that holds single panes of glass. I’ve noticed that water is seeping down the back of the frame and causing rot, so I need to seal around the glass to stop this from happening.

I thought that perhaps something like this  https://surreysashwindowspecialist.co.uk/blog/putty-alternative/ might work, but can't really tell if this is is only to seal around the frame or can be used to seal around the window itself.

Thanks for the tip @buffruffly

We've had Richard here all week refurbing our sash windows. He's done a great job and we are pleased with the craftsmanship and the value. He is very polite and tidy too.

Unfortunately, for others looking for his help, he just told me as he is now in his 60s, he may move onto doing something else as it is quite hard manual work.

    • BRILLIANT.  Sorry, I whispered, "brilliant"!
    • I wonder if there is a compromise in that all those attending wear headphones with a special code so they can bluetooth with a central device that streams the music to them, so residents do not have to hear it? there are 'silent' club events I believe. It would not mitigate the weeks of build and deconstruction but is there a case to be made that if you want the privilege of attending this event outside and 'nestled' in the park then the compromise is to have it on phones. This way you show you care for the nesting birds and the environment.
    • Big shout-out to the  lovely ladies at Dolled Up beauty parlour, at 209 Lordship Lane, who resolved a courier mis-delivery problem for me. These stunning ladies have  warm hearts and a fantastic  sense of humour, combined with a great community spirit. I wish them well in their new business at 209 Lordship Lane.
    • Cardtronics do Londis too, so that could be where he went. Worth asking the Police to source CCTV from there and the ATM itself.
