DPD UK Delivery Services missed my parcel collection not once but twice. First time I was given a window of 1 hour for when they would arrive at my door but I heard nothing, no bell ring, no knock, no phone call, no "sorry we missed you" note, nothing. Just an SMS text, "When our driver arrived we were advised there was nothing to collect".

So I rebooked for them to come a week later on my day off work. This time I stood by the door waiting for them to arrive within the 1 hour window at my address. NOTHING, they didn't even come! and I got the same SMS text, "When our driver arrived we were advised there was nothing to collect"!

Funny thing is there's no easy way to phone them on the website, no phone number in sight so I ended up paying again and sending it via the post office. I also don't see any way to get my money back from DPD. I'm starting to think the DPD driver went to the post office to collect my parcel when it was clear in all communications including when I received the 1 hour notification that they would come to my address and ring/knock/phone when they got here.

Complete BS, I will not be using them again and they will get a zero out of ten.

I have always found them reliable and dependable. I have tried various couriers (both sending and receiving) over the years and DPD are one of the best, alongside Fed Express and DHL

The one to avoid at all costs is Evri. They were previously known as Hermes but were so consistently  bad they had to change their name to Evri.

    • Using the smart CCTV cameras is your best strategy - particularly if they have adequate infra-red capability. Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday. If you need any help, please drop me a PM. S7.mp4
    • Not in Ed, but I was in NE England over the weekend and saw an otter in the wild! Never seen one before, it was quite lovely.
    • Well unless the heron got them later, there were the  two cootlets. I think some others of this year's babies must have escaped the heron. Many years ago (and possibly still, though I never see them any more) there was a whole heron family on the island  - mum, dad and youngster. I don't know how long herons live. Maybe this one is the grown up youngster.
