Several commenters use the Forum to express aggression. Their habitual choice of language & fighty stance has scattered the mice.

Whether actual words written are interpreted as funny, offensive, deliberate or stupid, internet facilities are not being used co-operatively, to inform fellow readers or raise standards.

It is a pity, because I believe the writers of aggressive posts are bored, and wish for wider horizons, better local resources, and entertainment, but have learnt to get pleasure at the animal-fight level. This would be when each one pops a pet predator into the ring then watches the savagery for amusement.

Dulwich Tandoori topic had lots more interesting aspects to discuss, glad to see that happened over last few hours.

Now people are drawn back to semantics about choice of language. I think this merits a fresh start.

Is it OK to post aggression?

Does Human speech allow each person to express their inner needs in a non-violent way?

What should the EDF or individual members of the surrounding community do, if commenters consistently choose the opposite, and it drags the rest of the locale into disrepute or even danger?

Set up a 'mouse's facebook page' well away from all the racket?

Or encourage some gentle self-moderating from within?

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
