CHERN Thai Cafe - Opening Times

Great news! 
 

We’ve just spoken to the owner, who was in the cafe when we went past, and the news is that following some redecorating they are going to re-open very noon.

Update  on exactly when, to follow. …….

Just heard from Chern that it’s re-opening on Saturday 15th ….

12-3.00  & 

5.00 -10.00

Opening today:

12.00 -3.00   &  5.00 -10..00.     and thereafter: 

Sunday 12.00 - 3.00  & 5.00 -9.00

Monday closed

Tuesday 5.00 - 10.00

Wednesday- . Saturday  12.00 - 3.00. &  5.00– 10.00

Oh, that's excellent news that it's opening on Saturday lunchtimes!

We went there yesterday for lunch, which was really delicious and excellent value.

A starter plus a main is £11.95 for their "lunchtime special". Just a main is £8.95.

We had excellent gyozas to start, then I had pad thai and my partner had a stir fry, both with tofu. They were large helpings,  freshly cooked, with fresh veg. There is the option to have chicken or beef (prawns are £2 extra)

Also they now have Thai beer (Singha) on draught or in bottles (previously it was bring your own alcohol).

The service was also good. We were sorry and surprised not to see more people in there, particularly as there was a match on.

It is really worth the short walk from Lordship Lane!

It's on the other side of the road from ED station, on the left as you go from the station  towards Goose Green (or on the right as you head towards the station from Goose Green).

I don't think they have a website - it's a small place - but their Instagram according to their menu  is @chernthai though I haven't checked it out yet.

They are closed on Tuesdays, otherwise open 12-3 and 5-9 or 10.

I think that varies at weekends.

Yes, Pao, the owner has created a really excellent  restaurant on Grove Vale.

BTW, it’s open every day lunchtime and evening, except all day Monday & Tuesday lunchtime.

We went to Chern Thai for lunch on Saturday, as we have done quite often, and they were closed, with no sign of life.

The sign in the window still says Saturday 12-3, and there was no indication that they would be closed.

Can anybody shed any light?

We went to Chilli and Garlic on Zenoria Street instead. Their falafel salad bowl is amazing (and amazing value!) but we had been looking forward to a Pad Thai and a pint of Singha!

ETA: I am reviving this thread because it is/was  specifically about Chern Thai's opening times!

Do you know if they had been open at lunchtime?

I didn't think they had closed down, just wondered why they hadn't been open at a time when they still had Saturday lunchtime opening included on the opening times in their window.

We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)

I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why!

I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....

Yes, sounds like it, if they are normally open on a Tuesday evening?
