SJK
Hi, my little one has just started at Gumboots baby room. I wondered if there were any other mums whose little one has gone through the settling in process? Obviously the separation came as a bit of a shock to us both! The nursery staff seem so caring that I am sure they will have my daughter settled. But I'd love to hear from any mum who has been through it and can say how long it will take for her to feel a bit happier. Many thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34891-gumboots-mums/ Share on other sites
david_carnell
Gumboots Dad here.My wee man goes two days a week (Thurs and Fri) and has been there for about 4-5 months now. We moved him from another nursery we were happy at mainly due to the cheaper fees. I can happily say it was an excellent decision. He started there at about 12months old and initially sobbed and howled when dropped off. Whilst every baby is different and will settle in at their own speed, within the first month nursery staff said he was fine within minutes of me leaving (it was a bit of an act on his part, the big drama queen!)He now can't wait to get in there. I drop him off on my bike and he walks in of his own accord and waves hello to the staff. They are all lovely and I'd happily put him there full time if we needed it.I'm sure your child will settle in soon enough. I've never seen any kids crying in the afternoons at pick-up - they're all having too much fun! SJK
Thank you Gumboots Dad - that is so lovely to hear. It really is a wonderful place, with lovely people, so I know she will settle. It's just a case of preparing us all for the duration.Nabz, I was on the waiting list almost two years. I do know friends who applied for Gumboots but were also unable to get on the list. Good luck with whatever childcare you go for! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34891-gumboots-mums/#findComment-667022 Share on other sites
david_carnell
It is very popular. Carnell Jnr was on the waiting list before birth to get an offer at 12months. And I think we were lucky.Although that alone should tell you the high regard in which it is held locally. I don't think I've ever heard a bad word about it. Mfichardt
Our daughter has been there 2 years (baby room, then toddlers and now pre-school). It's an amazingly loving, friendly, warm place & people, and my daughter thinks it's her second home. I do remember settling in was hard for me (us) too, but try to remember it's normal for it to be difficult. Just keep talking to them if any issues; we've had minor and normal stuff popping up over the years, and they've been very responsive.
