Modern football types! I'm 58 you ignorant pillock. Saw plenty of ultra-violence when I was a kid. Cold Blow Lane in particular was a hot bed of violence in the 60s and 70s. Saw plenty there and elsewhere.

Ditto the above really - I've seen violence both in and around grounds, some of it quite stomach churning - don't think I've ever seen anything as polite as a "brawl" though.

Certainly not one which was "exciting and nobody got hurt", maybe you're thinking of a John Wayne film?

Sense of humour failure my dear friends. Just pointing out a bit of an over-reaction by the media. Obviously the point had been made before.

Brawl refers to loosely equally matched groups where no real harm is done. If you want some a real story when the London clubs came down about a 100 of them would stand in their Pringles/Stay prest/etc then start chanting and get chased, led onto the pitch, and receive a warm round of applause from the away end as they were marched round to join them.

It got a bit silly after Man U got relegated in 74 when they suddenly got the reputation of trouble and picked up more fans. Glory hunters were Leeds and Liverpool before that.

When they came back in 75 there were pitch invasions every away match when they came back up. Rember one at Derby but it was almost dancing with 18 year olds with long hair, short jumpers and baggies trying to kick each other. Then the Man U fan who fell through the roof at Carrow Road.

Of course there was far more unsavoury stuff and generally glad it has gone.

Always had to be careful at Upton Park even in modern times.

Which is exactly what Spurs were going to do if they'd managed to buy it. Dodged a bullet there.

Not so clever maybe Jah - right click on the image and Google does it for you

    • I didn't say wedge it "slightly" open. I meant to wedge it fully open.
    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
    • @Jenijenjen I assure you we are always polite and friendly too! Which is why the behaviour we have been receiving is so frustrating. The kids always leave her with a “Thank you have a lovely day”  Our concern is leaving the gate slightly wedged doesn’t stop the action of slamming it open and closed…still leading to damage
    • If you're talking about who I think you are, I find them more exuberant than rude and usually smiling and polite. But then, I'm usually smiling and polite to them. Can you not wedge open your gate when you're expecting them?
