Mick Mac
I think there is a good chance Moyes will not be given more than one season if he doesn't make the top 4. Otta
Give him a chance to build his own squad (which hopefully will be shit) then judge. Man U were not great last season despite winning the title, and they definitely need some fresh blood. They just need to avoid the stupid headline grabbing chases for star players that drag on and stop them doing other business. Mick Mac
I'm note sure that was the intention. Evolution not revolution should be the way forward for such a club. Nothing personal I just don't think he's up to it and never did. Moyes isn't up to it and he was SAF choice, maybe shows his judgement was going and he went at the right time. Alan Medic
Several of the players who had a big part in the PL win last year are not contributing this year or are over the hill.Ferdinand, Evra, Vidic, Giggs & RVP. It was an average team last year with an above average goal scorer. How anyone can say Moyes isn't up to it at this stage is ridiculous. And what is more Ferguson knew that the club needed to rebuild and bring in fresh blood. Ferguson built several great teams in his time there but at 71 probably felt his time was up and felt the need to pass it on to someone else.Moyes has not become a bad manager overnight. He will succeed if given the time and resources. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/52/#findComment-708508 Share on other sites

red devil
It would be a waste of time sacking Allardyce now, the ?5m compo can be spent on a new beanpole.Besides, how long would it take to get a new manager in, probably wouldn't be much transfer window time left (3 weeks after sacking Clarke, WBA are still managerless).Forget romanticised ideals of playing Academy football, the main priority now is to stay up, and with BFS you have a better chance. Sack him in the summer if you must... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/52/#findComment-708551 Share on other sites
maxxi
Yes, yes all very nice and pragmatic but a couple of points -The Premiership is the priority for the financial health of the club and for all those making money out of it but it isn't the be all and end all. Given a choice between Allardyce and his 'no-nonsense' approach for a few more years just in order to maintain Premier League status and relegation now and a rebuild under someone new I'd take the latter even if it took a few seasons to get it right. But our board are only after the cash from moving to the Olympic site so if Allardyce succeeds in keeping WH up he probably will stay - and his misery-inducing, spirit-sapping, joyless brand of thugball will persist as 'maintaining' will be the object and no more - so sacking him in the summer isn't an option unless we're relegated and if that's to happen why not get rid now.And as for giving up on romanticised ideals of playing Academy football I'd settle for juat a little imagination, flair and spirit - some entertainent for fs - or what's the point? ????
...plus - I am not convinced he'll keep us up, at all- he was lucky to get us up in the first place, with by far the biggest budget and best squad...his negative tactics we blew a comfortable position for the play offs- he's been fcoking rude about our fans and club from day 1, suggesting he was going to stop this sort of yo-yo ing rot and what had our attractive football ever got us etc he can't expect any affection back at all- the situation we are in is largely of his own making (transfers/tactics). He hasn't shown an eye for a player, any motivational skills or any tactical nous beyond one victory at Spuds, tactics soon found out by other since.- he's out of his depth...as Newcastle realised a few years back and this combined with his obnoxious personality means I hope the fat c*nt gets run over by a bus this afternoon Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/52/#findComment-708573 Share on other sites

What sort of manager/players are you going to attract languishing in the Championship?Besides, there's no guarantee you'd 'get it right'.Careful what you wish for...Coventry anyone?> But our board are only after the cash from moving> to the Olympic site so if Allardyce succeeds in> keeping WH up he probably will stay - and his> misery-inducing, spirit-sapping, joyless brand of> thugball will persist as 'maintaining' will be the> object and no more - so sacking him in the summer> isn't an option unless we're relegated and if> that's to happen why not get rid now.As above, who's to say they won't sack him in the summer if you stay up.I reckon the owners are having the fright of their lives at the moment, and it might not be forgotten. At the start of the season you were predicting a top 10 finish, hardly a league position of 'maintaining', so you must have thought he was doing something right then... I was happy to see J Cole back a year ago but I still wanted Allardyce out last Feb:" BFS's contract only runs to the end of the season - now we know why Gold/Sullivan haven't been too keen to offer a new one. I don't care if it means missing out on Carroll - even if PDC isn't next in the chair I hope Sam goes."and I MUST have thought it was JUST maintaining to post this in June:"Cardiff h, Newcastle a, Stoke h, Southampton a, Everton h, Hull a - perfect first six to judge whether it'll be another anonymous BFS season. 6-8 points from that lot and it's a yes, more and things may be looking up, any less and were fooked. No pressure. "and in August"I'd have preferred to see Parker back as this looks like all-eggs-in-one-basket footy relying on an injury prone target man."THEN - and in response to Quids saying he thought we'd be safe AND while we were still hoping to see an other striker I posted;"Quagliarella on loan would do a job - but I think we're safe too - more I think we'll be top ten again."and by the end of August:" 2012-2013......We needed a striker. Spent big on a crosser of balls (Jarvis) to feed our one injury-prone front man.Should have bought a striker.2013-2014......We need a striker.
