Could have used that description for Steve Perryman back in the day. A born leader. One cap for England and that towards the end of his career.

Also apply that to the Romford Pele, Ray Parlour, loved his fight and spirit.

Agree that England should take Carroll if he's fit, if not, Lambert instead. I didn't think Rooney and Sturridge clicked at all the other night, and time is short to see if they eventually do, so a plan B is definitely needed.

Don't know what's happened to Cleverley. For a period of about 6 months around the time Utd beat Arsenal 8 2, he was on fire, not sure if he then got injured, but since then he's fallen off a cliff. At the moment he doesn't even merit getting into Utd's squad...

Normally I would agree about the compo, I'm sure there's precedent, but I think this situation is a little complicated because Wilshire clearly played on with the injury (14mins to 58mins). My guess is that the player wanted to play on. By doing so, did this aggravate the injury?...

Even the most one eyed Manc couldn't justify Cleverley at the moment...

wot otta said.

It is a different world and following Daley's inspirational example I reckon the wider reaction will be positive.

If his team mates do likewise then they should be fine, though I suspect he'll get a mauling from some opposition players and opposition fans.

Maybe, but where's the FA's duty of care? Surely it's up to the the manager decide and the medical staff to give guidance to him?
