Balotelli going to Spurs at 25/1 must be worth a punt. Spurs will be in the market for a striker if Soldado moves back to Spain, and Milan seem keen to move Balotelli on...

Opening fixture, Rangers 1 Hearts 2

It's going to be the league to watch in Scotland this year.

So Legia have appealed to Celtic to play again on various grounds of honour, fairplay etc. Celtic's response is they are unhappy with those comments and it's a UEFA matter. What's wrong with those comments? If Legia were a bigger European fish I bet UEFA would find a reason to allow them to continue in the competition.

Celtic, do the right thing. It would be a breath of fresh air.

Excerpt from Legia's public letter:

He continued: "Imagine Jock Stein and Billy McNeill deprived of the chance to achieve the biggest triumph in their career by an application form, filled improperly by a club employee acting in good faith.

"Would any true legend of Celtic FC accept the qualification won despite the double defeat suffered on the pitch? I am strongly convinced that their legendary Celtic pride would not allow them to do that."

Well if that doesn't take the biscuit. Who are they to try to put themselves in the mind of Jock Stein.

"How could they then look in the eyes of their humiliated fans?"

F.R.O.

Terrible letter by Legia. By all means appeal vociferously that a minor technicality shouldn't be so harshly punished but this sort of limp PR garbage is laughable. Wonder if they sent it on tear-stained paper?

Charity shield - a lot of leaden feet being slowly dragged back to life on the ManC team.. and that skin-tight beach-volleyball shirt the gooners were wearing?... can't see many fans in the over 35 bracket struggling into a replica one of those without corsets.

Surely it's not up to Celtic - they'd probably be punished

if they made any offer.

FIFA and UEFA can be quite nasty.

It used to mean something, the traditional curtain raiser to the new season, but with clubs now going on long-haul pre-season tours it's lost it's appeal. With nearly 20,000 empty seats yesterday perhaps there's an argument to play it overseas too...

Ozil, Mertesacker, and Walcott not available for us but 3 good goals and great performances from Chambers, Ramsey and Cazorla. Sanogo looked good, so it bodes well. The usual suspects demeaning the result, and like Arsene said if you lose people point and say you bought these players for a lot of money and failed, you win, it's a pre-season friendly ( no matter that previous winners have celebtrated winning it with gusto, yes Yanited included). The empty seats were City allocation seats from what I hear, but what made the victory sweet was sticking it to the little bitch Nasri. If ever a player need some PR advice, he's your man.

    • No, I didn't make a any comment, just posted a link. Clearly posting a link without a comment is seen as an opportunity to pile in on the poster, thanks.
    • In posting the link, that you may or may not have read, did you have a view?  I don't believe you are neutral. It's a sensationalist headline but misleading.  The heat pump sector is crying out for reduction in electricity costs and this is one way it could be achieved. Time would be better spent taking time to digest the article.
    • It’s even worse this weekend, the bass is unbearable.    The fact SE22 is getting upset about something in an entirely different Borough probably suggests how bloody loud it is that we can still hear it from here!? It must be awful for those living right next to it as I feel stressed enough from half an hour away. I don’t see any benefit to the local community, it blocks off our green spaces, makes it deeply unpleasant to be at home every weekend, and most attending will be from outside of the area. I also wonder if these events are the reason there are so many dead fish currently bobbing around the lake in brockwell park? Pretty miserable for the local wildlife too.
