Since Bale's gone we are no longer a selling club.

That's because you had no one worth buying :)

Joking aside, you're building a new stadium, and Arsenal were forced to sell players whilst they paid for the Emirates. But with the TV money you indeed might not have to sell, we saw this with Everton over Stones, time will tell...

Saw the pre match stuff on the TV but then listened to part of the match on BBC radio. They commentator was going spare over of all the stuff being throw at the French goalie. Was there any mention of that on the TV?

Regardless of the potential for some idiots to disrespect it, the French national team just played here and a great deal of respect was shown. Do the masses really want to express their empathy with what happened in France by singing their anthem? I doubt it. It's in French. A minutes silence maybe.

Well said

Very much looking forward to MOTD tonight. Spurs quietly going about their business. Still unbeaten since the opening day. Chelsea next. Always a tricky one but our confidence is growing and I don't see why we can't beat them too. Hopefully end Maureen's reign at the helm.

Obviously, don't want to get carried away as being a lifelong Spurs fan I know it can always go tits up at any point and it usually does but beginning to feel quietly confident that we could be contenders this season.

Anyway, Spammers... how'd you like them apples?

I wouldn't go that far...yet. Certainly don't want to get carried away. If Harry gets injured that's a massive blow for us. But we're a young team who are growing together and everyone seems to be singing from the same hymn sheet and hopefully we'll stick together and who knows within the next few years if we continue to grow and make progress under Pochettino, who deserves a lot of credit for the way we're going about out business in bringing in our style of play and bringing the youngsters through I don't see why not.

Getting into the top four and finishing above Arsenal (as an added bonus) would be massive for us this season. I'd be very happy winning one of the cups that we're still in contention for.

With Chelsea having such a poor season so far I don't see why us or Liverpool can't nick their top four spot.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
