emza78
Lo is now successfully potty trained, hoorah! We're going on holiday next month and will no doubt spend all day on the sandy beach so...what's the etiquette? Take potty for her to use then then dig a big hole in the sand to discard of contents? Pour it in the sea? ( can't imagine that's very pleasant for anyone) or try and find a bit of "shrubbery"? I doubt we'll be able to persuade her to just wade in the sea and go...And as for number 2's?! It's a minefield! Otta
If you're just talking a bit of wee, I'd just bury it in a little hole in the sand. A poo, I'd take some wipes and nappy bags and hope there's a bin. jennyh
We have that travel potty and its great but it's quite low down so can be a bit uncomfortable to use, especially on the sand as we found out a couple of weeks ago. I would take normal potty and some bags and wipes, pour the wee into a hole and bag the poo! oimissus
I would take a normal potty and some nappies and out the nappy in the potty so you can just wrap up the contents and chuck them in a bin. Most beaches will have loos fairly near, though, don't they? Should be OK. Saffron
Last time I went to Camber Sands, the state of the toilets was so bad that I'd rather have pissed in a hole! Plus there was a really steep sand dune between the beach and toilets, which would have been tough to get up and over quickly with small children. Of course every beach is different, so best to be prepared. Fuschia
I am having a flashback to the Barmouth rock pool floating poo incident of 2004. Serves me right for letting child gambol naked in the water. It was wholly traumatic. I spent ages trying to anchor the blighter down with rocks, in the end I sort of penned it in with driftwood and draped seaweed over while hoping the tide came in quicklyShudders Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35111-potty-etiquette-on-the-beach/#findComment-668720 Share on other sites
