buying my council flat/need a solicitor

I am planning to buy my council flat, could anyone recommend a solicitor??

You don't need one. We didn't have one. It all went pretty smoothly.

If you think you need one, don't go for one of these companies that specialise in helping you buy your flat, as they may have a solicitor but they'll charge you loads on top.

I would not advise proceeding without a solicitor...

... unless you understand clearly what you liabilities are with regards to any major building works

that may be needed.

which council tenant in the same block would not be charged for.

...These charges may not be covered by your annual ground rent. You could save money in the long run.
