Had a problem with a bathroom fan. Really great service from the electrician who came the next day, bothered to check it thoroughly (hoping to save me buying a new one) before declaring it at the end of its life. He then agreed to pick up the new one before fitting it by the end of the week. So refreshing to find a tradesman who is so helpful, polite and economical! I found my fantastic central heating chap on here (Mark Newlove) so wanted to recommend an outstanding electrician too.

I'd like to reiterate comments above from Helen (who's message I read in order to contact Paul Edgley.   December was extremely hectic at ours as is the case for mkost families.   I needed to get several appliances delivered and fitted in a short space pmof time in time for Christmas.   Paul attended at short notice, was faced with not the easiest workspace and conditions to work in and an archaic fuseboard.   The greatest challenge was getting a new range cooker fitted for gas and electric.   Paul attended at short notice, was quick to work out what needed to be done and fitted wiring and two switch boxes in a short space of time and got the range cooker working in time for our Christmas.   He charged reasonably, is deeply knowledgeable, experienced and competent, does not waste any time, and gave great advice for what else we need to sort in the near future and was literally a sparky santa in that he saved Christmas for our family.   We'll be using Paul's services again and recommend him hugely to anyone needing an electrican.   Thanks Paul!  Paul Edgley 07802 627967

I’d also like to reiterate the above. I called Paul after seeing the recommendation here. He came the next day. Found a fix for a problem with the wiring for my fridge/freezer. He was quick to respond, totally constructive and very reasonably priced. Paul will now be my go to electrician and I’d be happy to recommend him. Kate (Paul Edgley 07802 627967)

Another recommendation for Paul. I had a couple of small lighting issues, an outside light that needed wiring up properly as it was tripping fuses and a ceiling light that that needed diagnostics. Paul responded to my message within the hour and came round the same morning and fixed everything. Lovely guy and would absolutely use again. Paul Edgley 07802 627967

Highly recommend Paul if you are looking for an electrician in the area!

I needed a new cooker point installed and was struggling to find a local electrician to do the work. I messaged Paul and he responded quickly and was clear in his communication. He came over a day later to quote for the work which was fairly priced. He was able to complete the work only a few days later and he showed up on time and delivered as promised.

Will 100% be using him for all our electrical needs moving forward and would recommend him to anyone in the area. Thank you Paul

Our room fan was making a horrible, loud noise - I called Paul, we agreed a day, he turned up at 8am as agreed and he removed the dying fan and replaced it with a new silent one. He'd given me an approximate cost, and in fact charged exactly that. So, I'll definately keep his phone number handy for any other electrical work that we need.

I'd also like to recommend Paul! His colleague Damien did a super quick and neat job sorting out a kitchen socket for us which had stopped working. Paul is very easy to communicate with and it's great to know there is a reliable and skilled electrician in the local area. His number is 07802627967

    • My husband is currently a full-time carer for our two disabled children, and he’s keen to get back into paid work where he can fit it around our family needs. He’s immediately available and looking for local handyman work — from snagging and DIY jobs to gardening or general fixing-up. He’s capable, practical, and reliable, with plenty of hands-on experience restoring and maintaining, including with heritage/listed properties. If you have a to-do list you never quite get to, or need help with those annoying finishing touches, he’d be happy to help. Please drop him a message if you’d like to chat or check availability. 07968345884

Be aware, the trade value on your car is really low as no one wants to do the work & it's often only when it reaches near scrap value that someone (else) is willing to invest (their money) to try and fix. So if you're willing to front the money and fix your car that (you know) then that is most likely your best option (also understanding that it is outrageous that you should have to replace a CVT gearbox after 50K). If that isn't appealing consider a new Skoda Fabia 1.0 (Auto) on finance if you can't afford cash, it will last 20yrs.... (and avoid cars from the Stellantis group)
    • If you are referring to me, I was using my mobile. Just quoting the post I was replying to would have made no sense without showing my original post as well. I wouldn't have been able to do that on a "real PC" either, assuming I carried one around with me everywhere. It's nothing to do with what I'm using, it's the way the forum is set up to quote posts. I did insert a screenshot showing the keyboard by mistake.
    • You have to book for the Sunday roasts in advance. I have bad memories of once going for a circular  walk around Downe and then trying to eat. The Queens Head staff (and customers)  looked at us as if we were mad for attempting to get a meal without booking. The other pub in the village  reeked of bleach.  We had to  drive around in search of a meal, and ended up at some large pub whose name and location  I have thankfully forgotten. All I remember is the food, which was truly awful.
