Retro-fitting of insulation to internal walls of Victorian brick house.

We need to replaster the two walls of our top, back room. It's a single brick thick Victorian house, and a few years ago rain came through the walls and the plaster has blown. We've had the outside repointed since then.
I'd like to get insulation retro-fitted to the internal walls before the replastering but local builders I've spoken to seem surprised that we'd want insulation added.

Can you suggest any contractors in the south London area who are able to retro-fit insulation to a Victorian house? We have the money to pay and aren't reliant on grants but I'm reluctant to use a builder who isn't used to doing this.
Any recommendations from someone who has had it done, or from a contractor who has done this (and is able to provide references?)

Hi, it’s a family business, plenty of references available for work carried out in the area. What you want is insulated plasterboards dot and dabbed onto the walls with some mechanical fixings and then skim coat plastered. No drama.

I suggest that you have a watch of this guy.

This is a DIY channel but I’m not suggesting that’s what you do but it’s a good reference. According to Charlie’s, dot and dab is not the answer.

    • Most of the above but, as mentioned, blackbirds are much rarer. Cats without bells on collars are a scourge and menace, maim and kill so many birds (and mammals, amphibians)…
    • That seems more like the initial reports, where the beeping appears to be clearly heard but difficult to locate.   I don't know what experiments would then be useful.  I'd suggest something like: go to the area at night when there's little other noise.  Have with you any of (a) a stout tube -- apply to one ear, block the other; (b)  some electronic recording or audio-sampling device(s).  In both cases they could be used in different locations and/or orientations (principally rotation about a vertical axis), with a view to finding variations in perceived or received intensity.   Maybe take someone with you to video the proceedings. 🙂
    • Agree, the merlin app is really useful, especially if you are bird spotting somewhere like Greendale where it's much easier to hear birds than see them! Once you've learnt a call you can look out for the bird... Sue – I saw a pair of long tailed tits in East Dulwich Grove yesterday : )
    • I may have found the cause. Popped up to Erics this morning, and just opposite the Jewellers I heard the beeping. Stopping there for a few minutes I pinpointed it to either the beige campervan , the trailer or the building they are both parked outside. Acoustics make it hard to pin down exactly.
