srisky
The problem with my hair is that it is thick (I appreciate that is generally a good thing) and curly/frizzy, if left to dry naturally (not a good thing). Therefore, after washing my hair I leave it wrapped in a towel for an hour or so while I get on with other things and then blow dry it, which takes 20-30mins. This technique, which involves 20-30min of 'me-time', is no good in the morning when you have a toddler and a 5 month old. It's also no good in the evenings when you still have a toddler and a 5 month old, as I am too knackered. I'm curious about the Brazilian blow dry mentioned here on another thread, as I think it would be the answer to my hair woes - I would love to have 'wash & go' hair. However, I read somewhere that it is not recommended when nursing (or pregnant) and I am slightly nervous about the chemicals involved. So, does dry shampoo work, especially on thick hair? How much time does it buy before you have to wash your hair again? Any recommendations? Thanks! melbourne groover
Definitely look into the Brazilian blowdry it is great, I think you just have to go for the formaldehyde free one but am def no expert.... I have had this and found it great. I am also a big fan of dry shampoo, just use sparingly when looking a bit on the edge of greasy! I also have curly/wavy hair that veers towards frizz but have found a good cut for curly-ness and then mousse whilst damp stops the frizz without crunchy-ness. The Paul Mitchell one is the best I have found. I then just blowdry my fringe. It has been a revelation in the mornings not having to do the 20 mins blowdrying (hence my interest in dry shampoo...)I also like a cream from John Freida. If you do want it straight though go for the Brazilian blowdry when safe!Good luck. midivydale
Dry shampoo gives me an extra day at best so not an ultimate solution but i find it a godsend in an emergency morning when - "damn I have a meeting i have forgotten about and now I havent got time for the wash/blowdry which is really needed".In the above scenario I could get away with dry shampoo and the wear my hair up for the day. I have not however managed to make it work when I wear my hair down. My hair is too dry for that and needs more tlc.So not a magic solution but means I can just about pull off a polished (well), "I am together" look.Just about Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35561-tell-me-about-dry-shampoo/#findComment-672265 Share on other sites
crystal7
I love dry shampoo! Stops me having to wash my fine hair every day. Probably wouldn't work for longer than that though. I use Batiste, the colour one which hides grey hair too! Just make sure you rub it in well, wait for a few minutes, then brush... srisky
Thank you for the replies above and the PMs, just the sort of advice I was looking for - sounds like what I need for the mornings when I think I ought to wash my hair but just don't have the time or the energy! verds
Oh yes, get on the Batiste - it's the cheapest and the best. If you want something more fancy try Bumble and Bumble, which comes in different colours so is good for out-of-control roots too.Or just wash your fringe/the front of your hair! Nobody sniff my head. midivydale
Sorry forgot to say, I use the Batiste too. Very cheap and they do handbag sizes too. I have one in my desk at work and one in the car;) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35561-tell-me-about-dry-shampoo/#findComment-672307 Share on other sites
