Mine was emptied (unless I had forgotten to put anything in it!)

However my old food bin, which I had to replace because the bin men flung it over my wall and broke off the lid, which then blew away somewhere in the wind, is also  still there.

Every time I try to get rid of it by putting it in the green bin, it is never emptied from the green bin.

I'm not sure if this is because it gets stuck (it only just fits in the green bin) but short of taking it to the tip myself I can't see how else to dispose of it.

Btw there is an Ulverscroft Road WhatsApp group where you might get more response than on here re whether other people's food bins were emptied.

If you aren't already on it, message me and I can add you.

Thanks for the replies.
I did think just about tipping it all in the large green bin but it’s putting me off 🤢

Next week I’ll just put outside on pavement, surely it can’t be missed then.

@Suethanks I am aware of the Ulverscroft Rd WhatsApp group, I’m not on it, but I think I just prefer chatting to neighbours/friends whilst out and about.  But thank you for the offer! 😊

I just thought that as your query was specific to the road, more people who live in the road might see it on a group specific to the road than on here, as the road group  has over a hundred members, but no problem!

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
