CPZ stands for Cat Pee Zone; they never move on and the streets are literally awash with widdling felines.

Cllr Charlie Smith has written in SE22 magazine that the MGS CPZ is now approved, but there is no mention of consultation.

In the Council generated document I saw online in June it said this was subject to statutory consultation. Does anyone know if there will be another consultation, or not?

Here are the details.

Also glad to see they are going to monitor speeds in Barry Road and Lordship Lane.  There are a few insane drivers at very high speeds up and down those roads.  Southwark could earn a fortune with a speed camera on LL 🤔 and slow cars down.

Thanks Moovart, but in terms of process I am not clear what has happened to the 'subject to statutory consultation' aspect of the new, revised version of the CPZ, after it was rejected at the last consultation.

Earlier in the thread, some posters suggested that they were just a bit behind on the process but Cllr Smith's piece suggests it is a done deal?

I agree, monitoring speed on Barry Road and Lordship Lane is essential- but this thread is about the revised CPZ and I doubt the CPZ will do anything to tackle speed. If anything, it may lead to more frustrated drivers driving round looking for spaces.

We are now mid August and still no sign of the statutory consultation for the revised MGS CPZ proposal, which Cllr Charlie Smith has announced is now agreed.

What is going on? Are they just going to impose the reduced CPZ without further consultation?

Greenwich council was also going for a borough wide CPZ and the report claims botched consultations occurred. 

 

Wonder if they go to a CPZ training school.to learn how to try and pull the wool over residents eyes ?

I have to say I have only ever received a reply from one of the Goose Green Councillors and that is James McAsh. 

That's not to say Cllr Smith hasn't read my email and done something about my question but he has never replied.

What I am interested in is a potential breach of process. I understand that for some on here the end seems to justify the means. Let's not forget there was a clear majority against a CPZ at consultation and the council's own online document in June stated that the revised proposal was subject to (further) consultation.

I cannot find anything about the decision to implement this revised CPZ without further statutory consultation on the council website.

Still no sign of further consultation on the Melbourne Grove South revised CPZ, referred to by Cllr Charlie Smith as now agreed.

I have searched on the Southwark website under MGS CPZ and keep getting 404 notices that documents no longer available.

Could one of you that seems to have more success finding Southwark documents on traffic schemes post up the latest? This is a genuine question. If a local Cllr states something has been agreed surely detail should be easy to find?

The revised CPZ Cllr Smith referred to is meant to cover all of Melbourne Grove, Chesterfield Grove and Colwell Road. If 'agreed' it would be useful to see the results of statutory consultation on the matter and when this took place, as well as a timeline for implementation and other details.

Has anyone who lives on Colwell, Melbourne or Chesterfield received notification from the Council regarding the go-ahead of the scheme? My house sits within the boundary lines of the CPZ  but I'm not on the above roads and so far haven't had any comms throught the post. Wondering if the rainbow of recently spray-painted line markings at the end of Colwell Rd are CPZ related or a conincidental utilities dig up?

Well, according to council documents on the matter, posted back in June, the revised CPZ was subject to statutory consultation and that has not yet happened. It is confusing because Cllr Smith recently announced in SE22 Magazine that the revised CPZ had now been "agreed", so who knows what will happen next.

Do you think they are hoping the government changes the rules so they don't have to do any sort of consultation?

Are constituents not allowed to ask council officers for information?  Are they not allowed to ask a councillor for clarification?

You'd think that a Cllr choosing to announce in a local magazine, sent door to door, stating everything has been "agreed", might add some details like a timeline for implementation? Am I the only one to find it a little odd that the council chooses to announce measures via an independent publication, but omits to communicate with the residents actually affected?

Should I really have to? Why would a local councillor announce in a local magazine that a revised CPZ has all been "agreed" when statutory consultation for the same, as stipulated in a council document on the matter, has not yet been carried out? Why would that be do you think?

March, some ago you suggested that the council were perhaps a little behind on schedule. Given Cllr Smith has recently been so publicly clear everything is now agreed (with who, we do not know) what do you suppose is going on?
