Every single councillor (there are 9) involved with this stretch of road was asked to consult this summer. The results were very interesting indeed. In any event TFL met at this intersection to discuss in August. MONEY as always and how many people had been hurt. I would like to know how statistics are kept. For example the "child knocked over" is not a statistic as the parent didn't report it. I am very concerned that "citizens" have to act when paid professions do nothing have no new ideas and seem not to read the best and the brightest and the most recent studies let alone travel and incorporate ideas that work for less money from elsewhere. I've come back from France where a road much busier than Upland Road is painted with white stripes everywhere a road intersects. And cars STOP when a pedestrian stands at the stripes. It does not seem to be an enormous whoo haaaa . It's a bit of paint and collective behaviour. The idea that rules are cast in granite and they cannot be revisited and revised in the face of shortages. White paint is fast and easy and there is less street clutter. And get a few uniformed people out there to issue warnings for speeding. Drivers SPEED around a blind corner.

It's a really horrid road and I wish people would report their accidents as so many accidents do occur there but without reporting it legally its hard to get the MPs to take more action .

Is the lady ok now ?

Does anyone know if the old lady is ok? We drove past while they were obviously waiting for the ambulance to arrive and my daughter has been worried about her ever since.

On a positive note, it's nice to see that there are so many lovely caring people in this area. The lady was being well looked after by those people who had stopped to help.

I do hope she is ok and making a speedy recovery.

    • My daughter lost an earring possibly under the bridge at Herne Hill while cycling on Saturday evening towards Loughborough Junction. It has great sentimental value. If anyone has found it please get in contact. Thank you Don
    • The problem is not generally with the stores or drivers - who generally are doing the best they can and receive peanuts for each package. (Rumored that Evri will pay only 20-30p to a shop that receives/sends a parcel). The problem is the business model of these courier companies that do not invest in infrastructure or depots, but just outsource everything and set "contractor" drivers impossible targets. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/dec/08/christmas-parcel-delivery-drivers-driven-to-the-edge
    • I don’t think that this is a Barry’s-specific issue in the area. I’m constantly having parcels refused for delivery at the InPost lockers outside the Family Store on Upland as well as at the Esso garage by the Rye
    • I was several miles away and I didn't miss it, as apparently didn't lots of others also several miles away. But as I and others reported although we guessed it was fireworks it sounded more like the WWI front line, albeit from a distance!
