It's just hit me like a brick wall. I am going to have to pick 6 schools to apply for my son to start sept 2014.

We live on Barry road - just had a quick look at the admissions brochures for Southwark, Lambeth and lewisham and am feeling very worried about what school we will be offered as looking on the chart we are too far from all them.

Help me! Where do I even start? I need to pick 6 schools but where do children on Barry road (Goodrich road junction) tend to get accepted?

You sound like you'd be near enough to Goodrich School poss? Use a website such as walkjogrun.net to give yourself an approximate guide as to how many metres away you are. Can't remember off the top of my head what the furthest place offered this year was - think around 520m away. Have a look at the Southwark Reception places 2013 thread for more info. Just beware that Southwark's distance measuring software doesn't seem to bear much relation to many of the online tools... In our case they seem to have come up with a totally arbitrary measurement.

I'm not the best person to offer much hope on this one I'm afraid - as you'll see from my ranting on that thread... You may well be in the same 'black spot' as us. I think the new Harris Primary may at least be an option for you? And prob a good idea to put down Judith Kerr school as one choice as it is unlikely to get as oversubscribed as everywhere else. Otherwise, moving house so that you're practically opposite a school appears to be the only way to guarantee a school place within walking distance. Sorry to be negative - it has been a very difficult experience for us. My advice would be to put down your nearest 4 and a couple of less popular or at least newer schools that perhaps will have shorter waiting lists.

We are on therapia which is also a black spot, remember there are some new schools expected to open sept 2014 too and bulge classes. It is a scary thought though isn't it. Does anyone know where to get info about school open days or is it a case of calling individual schools to ask? Maybe we could post any we know of on here?

    • Going to be really inconvenient for folk to go that way as has been stated.. why not just move to Camberwell which I would assume is abit nearer and better travelling wise or have vets in both places from Lordship Lane Branch.. Must have been massive flood if going to take two months to dry out, electrical tests to make sure all good… From upstairs? Or where?
    • @selector73 Thanks!  Because we want him to be treated by the vets that know him we will have to get to the New X branch because thats where the team are based until LL reopens. Thank you again 🙏
    • There's 1 in camberwell hope that helps
    • Thank you !  We Will find a way to get him to New X because We owe his life to the vets he sees at Lordship Lane branch and they know him (and us) and we prefer the continuity of care because he's an elderly rescue cat who gets extremely anxious even though he's been needing monthly bloods he just never gets used to going and it can be a lengthy process just getting the sample. Can you tell I'm as anxious about the whole thing as he is??😥
