And Easter hols and October half-term....probably difficult to post when you're in a different time zone half a world away - bit of a giveaway! 😉

I just love how quiet Dulwich Park and Lordship Lane are, especially the first week of the private school holidays.

..during the Easter holidays when it all goes a bit 28 Days Later as the second home owners, skiers and Easter sun worshippers depart on their Easter jaunts.

Blissfully quiet.

Agree but not so great for the independently owned cafes shops etc.

Yes, that goes for this forum too...

All the parents looking after their kids instead of skiving from their meaningless desk jobs might mean it's quieter on here. Still, at least it gives free rein to the bad-tempered, long-winded pensioners that begin their posts "having resided in Dulwich for a not inconsiderable number of decades, may I be so bold as to suggest..." 😉

Who are you quoting?

I do wonder if there is a correlation between the bad-temperedness of posters and how many holidays they take. It seems those who go quietest during school hols are the angriest posters on here....so perhaps jetting off on holidays does nothing for their stress levels whilst those of us who get to enjoy a quiet Dulwich find new levels of calm! 😉

Right, I am off to do some yogic flying around Dulwich Park before the angry masses return - anyone care to join me! 😉

You generally can't access the forum from abroad. I assume Admin has geofenced it

That's good news as I expect the Russians, North Koreans and Chinese authorities will have tried to destabalise SE London.  Hmmm, thinking about it, how many are you are agents for these regimes if actually human?

Those not from the metropolis will recall the trades fortnights in the summer when factories would coordinate closing down for a couple of weeks for the summer hols.  With the quiet roads every day in the fortnight felt like Sunday.  I think this is what Morrissey was thinking.

    • So I've done a little more research into the current use of the word, I hadn't realised it had latterly been used to describe anti Muslim feelings. Still don't like the use of the word. These are horrible times and am fearful for the future.
    • Oh I didn't realised Starmer had used the word. I don't mean they are stirring up division between themselves (ie between Reform and Greens), I mean they are stoking division within communities, and stirring up racial prejudice and religious discrimination. That is sectarianism, in my view.
    • Just to repeat the news I was given – it's not being converted into a pub. As far as I know, there's no intention of dumbing down their restaurant offering.  Although as others have pointed out, Camberwell has two pubs – The Camberwell Arms and now the Michelin-starred Kerfield Arms – with excellent food. The Palmerston used to be the only pub in ED that was of such quality, but sadly no longer IMHO.
    • The country is in a real state.  What worries me about the Greens is encouraging migration and openly offering benefits to all with visas.  Where is the money for that coming from?  As if there is spare money, as if there is growth. Where I their holistic manifesto, ensuring funds are available and this is sustainable, and regulated? Incredibly dangerous and idealistic
