Oh dear.  I'd go a little earlier when the roads are quieter.

But maybe the poster either had other things to do earlier, or didnt want to arrive too early for whatever they had to do. That is why people often don't use public transport, it isn't reliable enough to plan your day.

Oh to have no one to please but yourself 🌞

I started this thread with the intention of informing others about what was happening in Peckham having witnessed gridlock one morning.

However I immediately get someone trolling me, then followed by some of the usual suspects whinging on about being trapped in the area by roadworks.

I don't wake up in the morning complaining.  I could be far less polite.

We live in London for heavens sake.  There have been changes to road access for decades.  Reduced speed limits.  More pedestrian crossings.  There has been congestion during peak time ever since I visited London as a child.  There have always been road works, whether or not they are getting worse due to crumbling infrastructure and the privatisation of the utilities and their networks I don't know.

Meanwhile we have excellent and affordable public transport and some quieter routes to encourage walking and transport.

Plenty to be positive about.

The roadworks nearer this end of the Rye are all but complete, but moved to outside Harris Boys.  Assume they are replacing cables or pipework.

So sorry that my comment asking about when these new roadworks caused you think I was whinging when all I asked was an innocent question.

Sorry to hijack, but seems relevant re traffic congestion; keen to get recent experiences of using the 185 from Heber Rd to Catford Bridge. Are the South Circular roadworks impacting travel time? How reliable/frequent is the service, and any general comments as I'll be travelling with a 9yr old at rush hour.
