I have decided to replace(and not before time i might add) the wooden windows in my flat to PVC like every other flat owner has done in my 1970s built small develipment. I intend them to be identical to the others and have had quotes etc. I was made aware that i had to let the Management company know about my decision. I did this and was told that to do so i would have to pay the freeholder ?30 for administration costs & apply for a licence(which will probably cost more again) to have the windows replaced with a detailed plan. Ive never heard of the freeholder, they have never been present at management meetings.

Now ?30+ further possible fees isnt a huge amount of money in the grand scheme of things. However im damn sure the freeholders have never seen the building and would have no idea who had wooden windows or PVC windows. I am quite tempted to just go ahead & replace as i am a little loath to pay into the freeholders money making scam.

Has anyone any experience of this and any possible legal implications?

    • I’ve asked them where they get their bread from, or if they bake it, and they won’t answer. Which is disappointing
    • I’ve been ordering from Butter & Crust now for 5+ years and it’s a brilliant service. The bread is fantastic as are the selection of pastries, milk & butter. The apple juice is also incredible and you can change your subscription to what suits you - I opt for every other week ☺️  I have a voucher if anyone wants to try, you get £10 off your next order with: HANNAHM_2
    • Yes, thanks, that's true, the previous information on here might be out of date even if I could find it. I was hoping someone on here might have up to date info. I will phone them in the morning.  I had a previous thread on here about the Oxfam book shop but for various reasons I haven't been able to get stuff down there, and now I just want it out of the way.
    • Best to call them. What might have been the case last week may not be now. There's also Oxfam book shop in HH
