East Dulwich was no posher than peckham until quite recently, so whoever told you that is obviously talking out of their arse!

Yes, I could but I won't. Yet!

Signs all over the place reminding we are in England, telling us DO NOT CLIMB THIS SCULPTURE and DO NOT PHOTOGRAPH THIS PRECIOUS WORK OF ART

are

NOT to be seen at this amazing beautiful work of art!

Yay!

Well done artists and thanks to the Councillors who awarded the tiny amount of CGS award that allowed it to be done!

When did this happen?

I've been here for decades and AFAIK the area west of Peckham Rye and south of East Dulwich Road has been SE22 for a very long time.

The money awarded from the CGS was ?2500.

A pot of around ?250k is available from the CGS each year. Any individual or community group within Southwark can apply for funding for any project that falls within the remit of the scheme.

There's a lot of imformation about the scheme on Southwark's website.

  • 3 weeks later...
Am I the only one who is depressed by the production of this sculpture, the absence of design research as relates to the area, the crude addition of wings once the sculptor discovered that Blake had seen angels on Peckham Rye (though this is such an old chestnut - lots of other interesting things happened on the Rye over the years including a race by Boudica!), lack of consutation with local community, lack of documentation on site......

The overall production looks Good. Though I have only seen it from my car.

I have no understanding of any relevance to the local area if there is any.

I do not much appreciate the addition of the 'Wings' and others have expressed similar views

Do not think they add anything to the piece.

But them I'm only a Fox.

for the emigr?s and in case people haven't seen it

The blurb said "The piece, sculpted from a damaged tree, is based on the notion of unity and friendship ? feelings Morganico felt were rooted in the local area."

Clearly morganico hasn't been on the edf ;-P

The EDF is often the acerbic 'pithy' side of the 'local area'. Perhaps he has visited Nunhead and the piece is based on that....

Darn - I'm a Nunheadian but I've blown it by revealing my pithy side...

    • I can definitely recommend AFE Plumbing services. i had a leaking tap in the kitchen and Aria came out the next morning to identify the problem and bring a new tap to replace the old tap and get it all working very quickly. Aria is a very helpful individual who will always do his best to solve a problem for you.

    • I’ve been following the conversation with great interest. I don’t think that london parks and their wildlife are appropriate places for this kind of events. And of course, it also affects residents, too. It was really annoying going to the park with so many people, cans and rubbish everywhere, and noise spreading towards all directions. And think that I do like this kind of music, but I still think that this is not the right place to run big open air events like this. Also, today I saw this on the news: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3gg8p770eeo A free event was cancelled because private ones damaged the Brockwell park. Of course a free event would be cancelled, there is no way it’d be the other way around.
