EMERGENCY PROTEST: join us today (Tuesday 29th July) outside Downing Street, 1pm [PSC]

Recommended Posts

'Keir Starmer has recalled the cabinet from their summer holiday to discuss the urgent situation in Gaza. Strong words are not enough. Join [PSC] today at 1pm outside Downing Street to bang pots and pans and say: Stop starving Gaza. Stop arming Israel.

...

We will be outside Downing Street today from 1pm, banging pots and pans to symbolise the famine Israel is deliberately inflicting on Palestinians, and to protest against Keir Starmer and his government’s complicity in genocide.

Join us if you can at 1pm, and bring a pot to bang. Make sure Keir Starmer and his cabinet hear us loud and clear.'

Well that really is not Christian Spirit at all - we all live in this world and yes, totally agree that it would be wonderful to have no conflict in the world but that is not possible.

Yes we have people in need of food  in this country but overall enough charities and organisation in the west to help.

We are talking about thousands of people who are starving - not just going hungry - a huge difference would you not agree ?

Aid can’t reach people - for whatever conflict and don’t think people dropping parcels, boxes etc from planes would be the answer either.

Stop foreign aid spend and re-direct those funds to improve the lives of UK citizens.

People shouldn't have to rely on charities and food banks, their is enough food wasted in this country already which could be re-directed.

Let their own Govts feed them, why does the UK have to do it, how about other nations contributing.

Well if aid can't reach them, how are they supposed to be fed if as you say food parcels being dropped from planes doesn't work.

Lets sort out this country first and put UK citizens first for a change.

Gosh, calm down..

How about not getting so heated, and not eat for 24 hours with sips of water?

Try it and you may, just may understand, starvation, no water.

No meds at all even if you need them - hasten to add, don’t do it at all if you are medically dependent.

In fact, why doesn’t ED - do this for half a day - say in Oct, when everyone has come back from enjoying their, hols, new term starting and as a community, we could all be 1.?

Before, November, fireworks, etc.

How about feeding those here at home first, rather than dealing with overseas humanitarian crisis.

We don't have thousands of children on the verge of starving to death (many have already died of malnutrition in Gaza).

War has consequences and its always the people who suffer.

This is tax payers money being used to provide food for another country, the UK can't afford it. What does Starmer and Reeves keep on repeating that they are trying to fix the financial blackhole they "apparently" inherited.

Simple the UK can't afford to be bailing out money, harsh yes, honest yes, unless you want to pay vastly more tax, oh that's what Reeves is planning for her Autumn budget anyway. All that happens is that the some become even more hard up, whilst the likes of the rich, it doesn't touch the sides. Wake up.

Jazzer, I'm beginning to think you're a troll.

Do you not like the idea of some of our and the US's money going towards medicating HIV, lowering malaria rates, cracking down on child rape, improving education and keeping children from an untimely, unnecessary death?

I know - quite the surprise from someone with Jazzer's illustrious track-record

"ah - did I touch a raw nerve"?

you see the GLEE with which some people can view horrors in the world and how others empathise?

I don't think jazzer is a troll. But I do think yer average person underestimates quite how many genuinely bitter and twisted people exist in the wider population. A troll is someone who pretends to adopt a position to wind others up. Other people genuinely hold grim beliefs and enjoy watching people recoil from them

I know what a troll is. I don't believe he can be for real, I've never met anyone who has views like this, it must be a wind-up

you may not have met them - but you've seen them on the streets protesting outside hostels. You've seen them in the 30% support for Reform. You may not have met them, but they sure do exist

Yes I do have a vague idea of what's going on in the world, thanks Sephiroth, for explaining it all out to me though.

The point I was trying to make, rather badly, because I'm busy and shouldn't be on here, is that I'm sure Jazzer didn't used to be this extreme. Either he's moved into wind-up territory, which people do do on here to keep themselves entertained, or he's just moving further along a spectrum as he gets older, which many people also do.

Apologies, I cannot remove the box above, which is has somehow appeared and is irrelevant to my post.
There is an incredible amount of hatred and blaming on other forums.  I assume created for those who stand to benefit.

When did I mention these, oh I didn't, you did.

    • Was planning to come on here to ask if anyone might know which celeb/royal came through Lordship Lane yesterday - was on my way up to Spurs, on bus at the roundabout by the EDT when some whistling police cyclists pulled the traffic to the side of the road to allow a biggish range rover to shoot past, on the way up towards Dog Kennel Hill. Could only make out two, maybe middle-aged, men in the front before it passed. Mildly hysterical lady on pavement was laughing/screeching with her friend that they were desperately trying to find out who it was. Had more reason to post after this lunchtime's experience. Had just got to bus stop opposite the M&S by the station when some mini cooper thing bombed through the traffic, swerving across to cut up another car to get up the hill, before two or three police cars followed about 20 seconds behind. Said mini cooper thing then reappeared coming the other way, beeping its horn to get other cars out the way before it bombed up what I think was Elsie Road, with police cars now on both sides of the road by Maxin trying to stop traffic getting in the way/half the speeding car. Bit more than I had bargained for when I set out/want in local area! Stay careful out there folks, this place is getting scarier...
    • The stop outside the chippy was still closed earlier today, although the barriers I saw yesterday have been removed, so no need for the closure.  The stop outside the church across the road is now uncovered and open
    • You all have different and conflicting interests though. It isn't necessarily appropriate for him to communicate with all of you at the same time about the same issues.    You're giving more away with each post as to how these difficulties probably arose.
    • @CPR Dave He needs to communicate collectively with all of the beneficiaries.  That is the whole point of my original post.  Electronic communications are the best way of doing this, as I am doing now on this forum.  Apart from the gold digger who will get a six figure sum the rest of us are on four figures, and that is going down by the day. I'm offended by any suggestion that we are not behaving well.  What on earth do you mean?
