Vacant Grove Vale Warehouse

Hi all,

Does anyone know what is going on with the large vacant warehouse right next to the kwikfit? It's been vacant for quite a while now and I am wondering what happened or what is going to happen to it

I heard it was turning into a massive cheese distribution centre for local business (single) outlets? maybe? seems to be a popular subject among the few that use this forum?? so hopefully that will be great for some more cheese chat in the near future! x

Used to be Gibbs and Dandy builders merchant. Same owner as Jewson. The staff at Jewson have been told they will relocate there now that the Jewson site has been sold for redevelopment.

There is an approved planning application (24/AP/0643) to reconfigure the site, keeping it as a builders merchants.

I had thought that the one at the top of Railway Rise was going to move here once the dust has settled over that site being redeveloped.

Ive just had a google of the address and it seems it is for sale now

 

my guess is that it’s becoming residential

Suspect it will become a 16 storey block for 1000s of student flats with a Londis on the ground floor.

With no need for additional buses, trains or GP surgeries to be added into the area.

Would be good if they turned it into something that is social/community driven for housing - old and young mix together. Let’s face it, dearth of social anything relating to housing… if that.could  be combined with say, work area and gardening and cafe for all, everyone wins..

Dream on.. yea… certainly don’t need more large supermarkets, kitchen stores, Argos etc…

Haven’t had time to look at plans…
