So over the last few days the old Harvester at the top of the lane has been cleaned up.

They’ve cut down all the trees and cleared the front then this morning there is a cherry picked painting all the hoardings.

Do we think the council has finally told Dulwich Estate to clean it up and stop it from being an eye sore or do we think it’s been cleaned because it’s been sold or it’s on the market?

There's no record on Southwark's website of planning permission for demolition which according to this website is needed to demolish a pub.  Also for demolishing a building in an unsafe condition which could well be the case.

There’s no record on southwark for planning permission for anything for that building.  But something will happen and that’s my prediction. It’s a waste of space at the moment big old pubs like that aren’t working anymore. They’re closing down all over the place.
A shop on the ground floor, a mini Lidl perhaps and then flats above built in the style of the adjoining flats. Social housing would be the preference but DE will go for the money.

I wonder if DE lobbied for the pedestrian crossings at the junction if they have plans to develop the site for housing.

This has been on the local agenda for years, and always ignored until now as TFL objected, as I recall. The existing housing estate just up from the site would have been sufficient to trigger engagement, had that been then possible.

Thanks Penguin.

It could be a coincidence. But after years of road safety being on the local agenda they finally put the crossings in months before Dulwich Estates regain the lease on The Grove.

The Estate understands there is strong local interest in improving this area and we hope to be in a position to share some exciting updates in the near future. The temporary skatepark will remain unaffected.

“Temporary skatepark” is telling.

Well if not housing with a bit of social attached, perhaps a local supermarket or a restaurant/ chain food place. Can’t think of anything else  that would for the bill unless a private dentist or even something like Tessa Jewel to serve that section. Pity that skate park might go - guys and gals put so  much work into it but have to  move with times. Community centre?

Anyone have any other ideas? Nice to explore…..

Meant Jowel - not Jewel…

    • Looking for a Seamstress to alter a dress for a legal ceremony (it is also a beautiful dress, so would be disappointed if it got ruined). Looking to adjust the neckline, so need someone who can support altering of design, as well as adjusting general measurements. Any recommendations are so appreciated, thanks! x
    • Me too.   It has been an abundant year for apples, grapes, rosehips and hawthorn berries.
    • Jason did a brilliant job replastering my loft bedroom. It had been done badly before, but he sorted everything out and even put in new joists where they were needed. He came across a few worrying things along the way but explained them clearly, put my mind at rest, and fixed them without any drama. He turned up when he said he would, finished on time, and kept everything tidy. Really friendly, really helpful, and the room looks fantastic now. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him!
