Welding

I had a welding job done by Michea4th earlier this week and I was super impressed with the result. Hence I want to offer this recommendation.

The job was to repair a cast iron component that had broken into two parts.

Now, most people think that welding metal is a simple task involving proven technology. That is true only in part eg when it involves steel but cast iron welding is much more complex and often has unpredictable results. The results are often disappointing, so many welders fight shy of taking on a cast iron job. I have been long convinced that successful welding of cast iron involves the dark arts.

When I got the component back from Michael, I was delighted as it was impossible to detect where the repair had actually been carried out -so expertly had it been done.

I am a retired qualified engineer and have dealt with many welders over the years and I must admit I was truly impressed with Michael's knowledge of the subject and his professionalism.

I resisted the temptation to delve too deeply into his secrets of welding cast iron - which as some of us know, is a very difficult exercise to get it right. That aside, he has done a super job and I couldn't be more pleased.

On top of that, he did the job on schedule and within the agreed (very reasonable) price. He dressed the weld carefully and returned the component after spraying it with primer.

Michael will certainly be getting all my welding jobs in future.

I would like to add a belated recommendation to this list. Before Christmas I contacted Michael after seeing recommendations for his work on hear.

My wife who is unwell has a favorite leather reclining chair, unfortunately the metal

Frame had snapped rendering it useless, however after speaking to Michael and describing the problem, he reassured me that he could repair it without any problem.

This he did and after listening to our requirements I have to say the chair came back

Better than new. I would have no hesitation recommending Michael for any welding requirements, he obviously knows his trade.

    • But... you returned at 4.03pm... 🤷‍♀️
    • Hello, Does anyone know of any climbing, basketball or badminton clubs that are local to Peckham, East Dulwich? My son’s weekends are full of football and rugby training but I’m struggling to keep him busy (off a screen!) on week evenings. I’ve looked into the London Community boxing but sessions sadly start at 4.30 and he’s not back from school until 5.  Any recommendations gratefully received!
    • Be careful out there  !   I got a ticket for 1 minute over  on Lordship Lane   ---- with a blue badge , on a single yellow ...    I returned at 4.03pm to find the ticket -- he waited till 4.01pm with ticket and then scarpered  Naturally i appealed it and this was the response   We refer to the informal challenge you have made against the issue of the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) JK17113680 You were parked on a single yellow line with one yellow kerb marking. There is a sign at the location advising that no loading is permitted Monday-Friday, 7 am to 10 am, and then 4 pm to 7 pm. Loading is permitted for a maximum of 40 minutes between 10 am and 4 pm, and then again after 7 pm. You were observed parked at 4:01 pm. and therefore issued a PCN for parking at a time when the rule applies. The purpose of this rule is to improve traffic flow and safety at all times. This contravention is immediately enforceable, and therefore, a PCN can be issued straight away as no observation period is needed. This rule applies to disabled badge holders, too; it is not a situation where you may use your disabled badge. Although your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) was correctly given, we have cancelled it on this occasion, as a gesture of goodwill. Please note that this cancellation does not set a precedent for other PCNs issued in the future under similar circumstances, as each case is dealt with on its own merits. Yours sincerely Anita Hayler Southwark Parking
