first mate
How awful. After the spate of water bomb assaults by a group of youths a few weeks ago this is bad news. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366641-peckham-rye-park-attack-august-22/#findComment-1719274 Share on other sites

Sally Eva
I quote from the News Shopper A post on social media network Nextdoor by someone who says they know the victim expands on their reported injuries. This is not exactly first hand. The mET say A 48-year-old man alleges he was injured 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366641-peckham-rye-park-attack-august-22/#findComment-1719357 Share on other sites
Angelina
Given the recent and numerous reportings of violence and intimidation, this was preventable and it just beggars the question of what actually gets the police up and doing something. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366641-peckham-rye-park-attack-august-22/#findComment-1719361 Share on other sites

Angelina
No, it was a man physically attacked in the woods in Peckham Rye park around 9pm one evening in the summer. Are they just being very careful what they say, or are there any grounds to suspect the man wasn't telling the truth? 3 hours ago, Angelina said: No, it was a man physically attacked in the woods in Peckham Rye park around 9pm one evening in the summer. Sally Eva
Mine came from linked story in the the News Shopper, an advertising dependent free sheet, quoting (social media) Next Door, an un-named person who supposedly knew the attacked person and the met who say they were called, don't mention any injuries and say "alleged". se22cat
This is horrible to hear about. We used to get daily Police patrols on foot & even regular patrols on horseback in the area. I know our local station had some bad eggs, but the officers I came across in the area back then were all a fantastic bunch. Sadly nowadays the Met's presence is non-existent, bar the weekly walk from the SNT. I hope something gets done, arrests made and the victim some genuine support and counselling. 1 3 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366641-peckham-rye-park-attack-august-22/#findComment-1719449 Share on other sites
Sue
If you read the article posted above, it is all very carefully worded. Sephiroth
the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366641-peckham-rye-park-attack-august-22/#findComment-1719605 Share on other sites

kiera
In response to Angelina & Sue's queries, it's being reported with an appeal for witnesses in the Southwark News this week, but just as cautiously & with no new information. first mate
Sounds a horrible, random attack, quite possibly for social media clicks, or some kind of sick initiation into goodness knows what - it is reported they were filming the incident. I do not really doubt that any of this is true. Perhaps the friend who reported it elsewhere does not want to be identifiable? There has been an emerging issue with different types of anti-social teenage/ young adult behaviour on the Rye this summer and this latest incident indicates a tipping point into something much nastier. The park should be a safe and enjoyable space for all. 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366641-peckham-rye-park-attack-august-22/#findComment-1720018 Share on other sites

Their information seems mostly to have come from the social media post referred to above. And, as you say , reported "cautiously".
