How awful. After the spate of water bomb assaults by a group of youths a few weeks ago this is bad news.

Given the recent and numerous reportings of violence and intimidation, this was preventable and it just beggars the question of what actually gets the police up and doing something.

No, it was a man physically attacked in the woods in Peckham Rye park around 9pm one evening in the summer.

Interesting wording by the Met. Do you have a link to that?

Are they just being very careful what they say, or are there any grounds to suspect the man wasn't telling the truth?

Mine came from linked story in the the News Shopper, an advertising dependent free sheet, quoting (social media) Next Door, an un-named person who supposedly knew the attacked person and the met who say they were called, don't mention any injuries and say "alleged".

The news was circulated on our local social media group - I don't know what is on standard media

This is horrible to hear about. We used to get daily Police patrols on foot & even regular patrols on horseback in the area. I know our local station had some bad eggs, but the officers I came across in the area back then were all a fantastic bunch. Sadly nowadays the Met's presence is non-existent, bar the weekly walk from the SNT.

I hope something gets done, arrests made and the victim some genuine support and counselling.

the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters

I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
