Hello there, can I pls check whether anyone else on here has been affected by noise from e-bike hire companies servicing bikes overnight? I live near an e-bike parking bay and am regularly awoken at silly o'clock by the noise from mechanics chucking the bikes in and out of vans. Lime seems to be the worst offender. Please either post on here or PM me if you are experiencing similar issues.

I was woken around midnight the other night as a Lime man tried to untangle a heap of three bikes someone had piled on my driveway. They block the pavements and people knock them over in frustration. I wrote to Lime and told them that in future any bikes left near my property would be securely stored away for collection at a mutually convenient time for both parties. I confiscated one at the weekend but a man knocked on our door looking to rent it while I was at work and my son gave it to him!

I told Lime it's not fair of them to push the problem on to the local collection depots, they create the problem by allowing users to dump the things wherever they like. If they were penalized for doing so that would put an end to it.

Pretty sure it’s the same everywhere in Southwark in that the area around a marked cycle parking bay is geofenced - presumably to encourage riders to use the bays.

I've only ever had this problem in dulwich village.

It was the same for Forest too.

I’ve experienced the same in Herne Hill. It’s definitely linked to where there are already marked bays, it prevents you from parking within approx 200-400 metres around the bay. Dulwich Village has quite a few bays, which probably explains why you’ve noticed it there and not elsewhere.

That is hilarious (not really) but what about all the copious parking for e-bikes and scooters?

It's complete bollocks. Look in the app. There's a bay next to the bookshop, a bay on Turney/Aysgarth, a bay on Burbage/Dulwich Village, a bay at the bottom of College Rd, a bay at the bottom of Court Lane...and in any case the app lets you terminate the rental by one of the other bike racks.

Honestly, first you lot complain there's too much bike parking and then you complain there's not enough!

    • Don't think there'll be much glee around today with what's happened in Poland and France 😕
    • Sounds a horrible, random attack, quite possibly for social media clicks, or some kind of sick initiation into goodness knows what - it is reported they were filming the incident. I do not really doubt that any of this is true. Perhaps the friend who reported it elsewhere does not want to be identifiable? There has been an emerging issue with different types of anti-social teenage/ young adult behaviour on the Rye this summer and this latest incident indicates a tipping point into something much nastier. The park should be a safe and enjoyable space for all.
