Apologies if already posted on here - did look, couldn't find anything...

'The Metropolitan Police have appealed for help to find a man after a woman was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack in south London.

The woman, in her 20s, was assaulted on Lordship Lane in East Dulwich at around 4.45pm on Monday August 25.

She was treated by paramedics for injuries to her face and her jaw was broken in the attack.

The victim was then taken to hospital and she continues to be supported by specialist officers.

Officers are now searching for the suspect and are urging members of the public to come forward if they have information.

He is described as a black man in his 30s or 40s with balding hair. He was wearing dark clothing during the attack.

He is said to have approached the woman while she was by herself before swearing at her and then hitting her in the face.

Detective constable Charlotte Kerr, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are working hard to find the person we believe is responsible for this senseless and unprovoked attack.

“While we continue our enquiries, we hope our increased neighbourhood police presence will offer some reassurance to women and girls throughout the local area.

“If you saw anything on Monday, 25 August – particularly between the junction of Lordship Lane and Chesterfield Grove at around 16:45hrs - do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

“No matter how small you think your information is, it may be the key that unlocks our investigation.”

Any witnesses or anyone who can help identify the suspect is asked to please contact the Met via 101, quoting 5018/25AUG or 01/7897951/25. Those who wish to share information anonymously can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.'

A couple of years ago a similar looking man bumped in to me while I was walking on grove vale, and he swore at me.

I think people are being let out of mental institiutions too early.

Daylight as well - must have been people around unless it was further on Chesterfield Grove - was bank holiday as well so not so many people around. Poor girl - must be pretty traumatised

It is so scary.  It could have been anyone of us. I hope the lady can find her inner strength and heal.   The wicked man should be locked up for a very long time.

I would say shocking! but now similar violence an everyday occurrence in London and other British towns and cities these days that is just accepted as the norm, sadly.

Tell me the last time a young woman had been attacked in broad daylight on lordship. It’s very very rare, horrible but rare.   It’s not the norm.

Not helpful to politicise this. A rather reactionary post.

Politicise? just reality these days! the truth needs to be said and not hidden, hopefully this trash can be found asap and locked up! I'm sure anyone, Chumbawamba or whoever would agree?

Sadly the actions as described (unprovoked frenzied attack by a stranger) suggest psychotic behaviour, possibly drug induced and therefore, if so, possibly not the result of an inherent wickedness. If he is locked away for a long time it may be section not sentance which achieves this.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a guy that fits that description hanging around the area of LL in the past, I noticed him because he had a crazy look in his eye and was quite tall, skinny scruffy and dressed in black, looked like he was on drugs tbh..but the guy I recall was definately nearer 40 and his hair was balding in the centre somehow..in a kind of U shape.

I just got a 'dont make eye contact' with him vibe.

I hope they catch him soon its very scary..and I wish his victim a swift recovery.

Dangerous filth like this shouldn't be allowed to wander our streets attacking random people! what's being done to get them safely locked away from causing any more harm?? it would appear, nothing at this time!
