buggie
Joy of being in Nunhead means the new full size Waitrose in Deptford (although they claim it's Greenwich!) isn't much further to go than ED sainsburys :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/36705-brixton-little-waitrose/page/2/#findComment-682582 Share on other sites

What I don't quite understand is that when convenience stores were genuinely small traders, I could understand the price premium on the products. Now that the convenience market is increasingly made up of all major supermarket chains who have the economies of scale that a large supply chain brings, why do they still charge a premium in their Express/Local/Simply/Little formats? I'll of course ignore their blandishments and stick with the 'shower of bastards attempting to put out of business the actual independent local shops who started the model of long opening hours where we expected to pay a premium because that was only fair and you knew the family running the place and didn't begrudge them a farthing of it' theory. The Nectar card? Yes I know. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/36705-brixton-little-waitrose/page/2/#findComment-682854 Share on other sites
