I have been going there for years. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Loads of recommendations on here, if you do a search.

I have only ever had Shingo, the owner, but to the best of my knowledge everyone else there  is very good.

I’ve been there a few times in the past.  It’s shocking to me that a woman’s haircut is £20 more than a man’s - £40 vs £60.

I go to Honeys on Cheltenham Road (SE15 3AR) - really reasonable prices and only 10 minutes on the 484 bus

I imagine this is because of the average  additional time involved, due to the styles.

You could have asked the reason?

I will ask, next time I'm in there. 

Many salons have this differential pricing.

Azalea, it is Hair & Beauty at 79 Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill. Next door to the Alex TLC charity shop and opposite side to Forest Hill pools.

The salon used to be further up the road towards FH station but moved to current location a few years ago.

Closed on Mondays and Sundays.

Thanks so much for the information. I called Adam and he sounds extremely lovely and  I asked what his hair cut prices are.  They too sound extremely lovely if you are on a budget and are more than fifty percent cheaper than the places quoted on this thread.

I have used Adam for many years. I have cut and blow dry for £23. Lowlights twice a year - I think I paid around £45 for this.  A friend went to an ED hairdressers and was charged £40 for a trim only with no wash.

To be fair, it depends on the style you want, what texture of hair you have and  how much of a precision cut the style needs.

I have very thin fine hair (or did have, before it started going grey) and it needs a really excellent cut to make it look good.

I'm on a pension, but I don't mind paying more for a cut which I know will make me feel good.

Shingo at Kuki works wonders (though I'm presently growing my hair in preparation for a particular style, so if anyone knows me please don't judge his talents by my present "halfway" cut!)

Based on recommendations here for Adam at Forest Hill, went today. Extremely good experience, wash and reshape cut. Definitely would go again.

My friend is an elderly lady and prefers to wash her own hair. She also has mobility problems and is dependant on mini cabs. They took her to the hairdresser and waited whilst she had it cut.. She obviously paid extra to the driver. If she had her hair washed- would have been in the salon a lot longer. They did spray wet her hair.

Usually if a hairdresser moves,  they have a book with their clients’ contact details and they then let you know that they’ve moved so you can follow them if you want to.  That’s happened to me several times in the past.  One person had set up working from home and another changed salons.

I’m happy that this thread has introduced more reasonably priced hairdressers to us all.  With food and utilities costing a lot more, it could mean the difference between being able to afford a haircut or not.  There is, without a doubt, some extremely odd and high pricing going on in this area, including the different pricing depending on length.   The new place on Grove Vale is one that does that.

That hasn't been my experience, but admittedly it was a long time ago.

For example, I had an excellent cutter at one of the central London Charles Worthington salons, I think it was in Covent Garden.

I would be highly surprised if anyone who worked there was allowed to keep their own book of clients' details, because the salon itself  obviously wants to keep their clients.

I can't remember the exact details, but if memory serves she left, and when I asked where she had gone  I was told she had "gone travelling", which may or may not have been true (I am not someone who keeps up a constant conversation with whoever is cutting my hair, which may be a surprise to those who know me 😂).

The next person I had there made an absolute dog's breakfast of my cut, to such an extent that I had to have several (free) cuts from somebody else at that salon to bring it back to some semblance of what it was supposed to look like.
