Just seen on Facebook, hasten to add not sure if real but think so -26 counties offering incentives for families to go to them. Sadly, don’t think singles are included.

Spain, Greece, Canada, Ireland etc

of course stipulations attached .

Were I younger would jump at opportunity - cash incentive…. Some towards refurbishing properties, some have to go to colleege

Well if it is true, would have  thought even with restriction would be better than living in a-room or two in a hotel.. who knows….

Thinking about it - a couple of years ago countries were offering incentives a villages were dwindling or population was as well - oh well we will see what  other forum items  think…

Stuff on Facebook disappears so fast - can only explain what I saw… ask your mate…

You can scroll back through your Facebook feed to find it, surely?

Ask your mate? Do you mean Google?

Why are you posting something when you don't even know if it's true? You are very quick to criticise other people making what you call "trivial" posts!

FYI  I just googled, and various countries are offering incentives for various reasons and with various different conditions, but most are not particularly new.

I don’t ’ have the time that you seem to have…and not that good at Facebook nor do I like

Why don’t you take the time you have to find your board.. people have given you suggestions….

i was asking for other people’s opinions…

Why don’t you and I agree not to comment on each others post or replies..

As for mate, was referring to Malambu posting or reply…

I am actually quite busy. I just like to keep up with what's happening on our  local forum.

It would take less time for you to find the Facebook post than to post about it on here. All you have to do is scroll back.

I don't think you understood Malumbu's post.

Why should I agree not to comment on your posts? You can say what you like to whoever you like, as indeed you do.

So can I. It's a forum.

Why don't you come to the forum drinks, and I'm sure we will both find that we are very nice people, but we both have an unfortunate propensity to get into arguments online 🤣

No, do come to the drinks, so we can have a proper debate.  It would be good.

The drinks aren't supposed to be to debate or to  continue "difficult" conversations started on the forum!

They are supposed to be an opportunity to get to know people who live near you and who you might not otherwise have met!

Oh, I met you years ago… doubt you can remember bought stuff from you.

Drink meet up aren’t really my thing - know plenty of folk on the forum - several have become friends.

No sorry, I don't remember.

I meet lots of people, but I rarely sell things on here.

I don't remember meeting anybody with your forum name or selling anything to you.

I am face blind, so probably I wouldn't recognise you if I met you again.

That's good  you have been able to make friends from the forum in other ways.

I - and I know that I am not alone - like the idea of meeting other people at a forum drinks, but are completely put off the opportunity by some individuals on here and how they come across (consistently) in their posts.

People are often (not always)  quite different in person to how they come across online.

If you don't take the opportunity to meet them in real life,  you will never find out!

If you still don't like them, you will have hopefully met some other people who post on here who you do like!

If you hate all of them,  that would be very sad, but you can always leave and never go to another forum meet up?

Happy to meet up with you for a cup of tea somewhere!

If people choose to be obnoxious, argumentative, disrespectful and generally unpleasant, why would anyone want to take the chance that they might be nice really?

Are you meaning me?

Should I cancel the forum drinks then?

Many people on here know me in real life, and hopefully they would not describe me like that 😭

There are a number of members of the forum who portray themselves negatively.

As in real life, people on the forum  are very diverse in their characters.

It would be very unfortunate if only "negative" people came to the forum drinks.

It hasn't happened yet, as I think the people who came would agree!

Also as in real life, some people on the forum  have very strong views, and other people with equally strong views disagree with them. This can get tedious and repetitive.

The forum drinks are supposed to be a social occasion, not for people to continue online arguments. Nobody has done that yet!

In any case some people prefer not to divulge their forum names. I've never hidden my identity, on or offline, but I understand if other people have reasons to want to do that.

    • The self checkouts run fine when the short blonde woman manages those tills. She's actually really friendly and very helpful and gets things done, unlike some of the other staff. She's a real credit to that store and makes shopping a nice experience.
    • I  stupidly managed to pull  a pipe off my back house wall whilst trying to remove roses which had grown behind the pipe (ironically, so that they wouldn't grow too big and force the pipe off the wall 😭) The pipe snapped off at one end and wasn't particularly easy to replace, as it had been connected to my bathroom basin. Aria came out at short notice to see what needed doing, came back today with all the necessary parts, sorted it all out and charged a very reasonable price. Happy to recommend him (again!)
    • Two guys were going down the south end of Underhill cleaning leaves from pavements and gutters and hoeing to remove grasses and weeds. They were doing a good job as well. And filling lots of blue bags. Lot more leaves to fall, however, so I hope they'll be back!
