It would be from junction East Dulwich Rd /Peckham Rye and is for a friend .

I am looking at TFL sites ,inc step free stations .Feeling buses might be better option .

Walking is ok ,but difficulties with knees makes steps painful though 2 or 3 are manageable.

I'm thinking that District/Circle line from Victoria would have escalators but I don't know what the exit at South Ken would be like .
Anyone familiar ?

Apparently Google maps has settings for disability access, but I'm not sure how you do this.

You would put in the start and finish point and set it for a disability friendly route

It's the kind of thing that ChatGPT or similar would be good at finding a quick answer for, provided you then double check what it comes up with, but for something like this it should be very quick and accurate, I would have thought.

Just give it all the information you have included above.

Good luck!

Take the Windrush line from either Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill (the latter is step free) to Clapham Junction, then switch on to the Mildmay line (it's on the same platform) to South Kensington

Chatgpt suggests a 345 bus from Peckham bus garage .

I think this would work well.

Thank you so much Sue for recommending Chatgpt.

Despite all the doomsaying, AI does have its uses!

Removing apostrophe in its 🤣

Citymapper is a great app you can put on your phone - tells you routes and you can choose quickest, least walking, step free , least changes etc. Also has real time arrivals (GPS for buses), journey times etc

Thanks Earl, bit concerned about exiting South Ken.

Thanks Angelina.i think the problem with the route planners is lack of nuance eg doesn't have to be completely step free .

Just check that your friend is happy to sit on the bus for at least 90 minutes, more if bad traffic.  It is a very long bus journey but a good one bus route.

Moovart - I know ,its tricky .Maybe we could get a 37 to clapham common and pick up the 345 there ,a chance to move .

or train from Denmark Hill to CC and then bus ? Aaargh .Must get on with the washing up .

Good thinking. It is a long time to sit.

Pros and cons, obviously. My partner and I tend to prefer buses, even if a longer journey, but of course trains don't have traffic to contend with (though  a problem if they break down en route, or a train ahead does!)

Another point is, the earlier in the route you get on, the greatest chance of getting the seats of your choice!

Ask ChatGPT for other suitable routes which don't involve sitting  a long time in one place?

Or if money is no object, a taxi? Still traffic, but no bus stops and would presumably take the quickest route?

Yes, you're right, South Ken isn't accessible. You could get off at West Brompton which is step free?

So Windrush line from Denmark Hill to Clapham Junction, change train (it's on the same platform) and go two stops to West Brompton. From there you can take the 430 bus the short distance to the hospital.

    • I agree with all that, but unfortunately there seem to be a significant number of people who are not so sensible.
    • All fireworks (even sparklers, which remain very hot when they go out, hence advice to have metal buckets of water for extinguishing them) are dangerous, but then so is life. Far better to alert children to dangers so they can avoid them, and take sensible precautions. And don't create fearful children. Get the children to warn the adults of dangers, make it a game but get them alert. But don't let them light fireworks themselves. Cautious but not fearful is your object. And if you're at a display which you feel is being badly/ dangerously run, then leave.

    • Yes, I hear people saying there are Jews on the march and it's not about Jews it's about Israel etc but I think that's a convenient truth for people who stand side-by-side with other protesters who are patently anti semitic.  These are people who celebrate Oct 7th and last week's attack on Yom Kippur.  Tell me there is not on single Jew hater on these protests. And why the protest when serious peace talks are underway? And did you read the article I posted? Do you honestly think that none of those medics have ever been on a pro Palestine march?
