Temporary traffic lights have been installed + a men at work sign where St Aidan's Rd meets Peckham Rye/ Forest Hill Rd, i.e by the 63 bus stop/Herne Tavern. No work was taking place when I passed by just after 3pm, but the temporary traffic lights were being switched on, restricting traffic to one way between Harris Boys school & the Herne Tavern.

Oh joy. It's not as if that road hasn't had almost constant work for the last 3-4 months or longer.

There are now two sets of temporary traffic lights on that bit. There is another 2 sets on Underhill Road and another set on Lordship Lane. There is another set in East Dulwich and I am sure there are more. The reason for all these lights (not the Thames Water lights) is because Labour hates everyone. We are not pure enough. We need to be locked in our "15 minute city" with no way out. Seriously, Labour hates YOU. They hate you because you are rich, or you are poor and have a flag, or you are Jewish or you send your kids to private school or you live in a nice house or you have a good job or you are a minority that won't do as you are told - whatever it is they hate you for it. And they have their horrid little outriders all over this forum guiding, nudging, putting down and being here for years with tens of thousands of comments (on a local forum - utter losers).

WTF?

To be fair the majority of the road works are driven by the now privatised utilities, though much of the work (not Underhill) has been planned, and it's clear nobody within Southwark Council has an interest in considering the whole borough impact of these plans, or in penalising over runs, or, if they are, they're pretty bad about it. The huge over run of the planned work at the Lordship Lane/ A205 being a good example, with all the no work days even within the announced timescale.

But I do understand an attitude which suggests that the council, and even those councillors representing wards local to us, look on us at best as cash cows to fund the North of the borough, and at worst as annoyances to be ignored.

An attitude which opens the doors to Reform.

Are they digging for Tin Foil again ?

Obs that the have run out of helmets, hence why no one is actually there.

If memory serves, their last post some time ago was about doing some kind of research  trying to correlate forum members' posting habits with their personalities, or something along those lines.

It's a troll. Their chosen forum name says it all.

I just wonder why they bother,  and what kind of twisted pleasure they get out of it.

ETA: Sorry, I think I may have misunderstood your post and what you were referring to, as you didn't quote anyone?

But I'm keeping my post as it was, in case I didn't!

    • Also has a free film afternoon once a month… shows a range of films.. Free as well. On first floor. Not great toilets but still.. Staff are all very helpful. Have lessons one to one if you need help on most computer issues. Can borrow iPad as well on site - ground floor. Extremely well stocked library with some new titles as well.
    • Just a short silly one among more prosaic or gloomy posts: libraries are brilliant and we are lucky to have them! I popped into Dulwich Library this afternoon. It was pretty busy and I'd guess there were probably 40-50 people in, plus however many in the kids' section. All sorts of people were borrowing books, getting their blood pressure checked on the machine, printing documents, using computers, getting out the house and off the street, reading the papers and reference books, whatever. Oldies, kids, students and everyone in between. At exam time, it's a safe space rammed with kids studying. It's an elegant building, the staff always seem to be doing their best despite the obvious money challenges, it's open late most days, and all for £0 at point of use. We are all very lucky to have access to Dulwich Library and the other libraries! 👏👏👏
