Hello,

I'm a qualified teacher and experienced private tutor who has spent the last three years as the Latin subject lead at an Ofsted 'Outstanding' state school in South London. I studied an MPhil in English Literature and Classics at the University of Bristol, and I have plenty of experience of teaching English, Classical Civilisation and History. I have helped many students find not only success, but also a renewed enthusiasm for my subjects. I offer:

  • English Language and Literature to A Level
  • Latin to A Level
  • Classical Civilisation to A Level
  • History to Key Stage 3
  • French, Spanish and German to Key Stage 3

I support both the highest achieving pupils looking to secure top grades and those endeavouring to get a pass. I've also worked with countless pupils with English as an additional language and special educational needs and disabilities. Students who want assistance with UCAS, personal statements and university applications are also welcome to reach out. Whatever your pupil's goals are with tutoring, I will help them to succeed and communicate with you the whole way. I love working with young learners, and love to see them meet their goals and exceed their expectations. I do online or in-person tutoring, and I am currently offering a rate of £50/hour. WhatsApp me on 07807482138.

Best,

Cian

    • I've not engaged in this debate so far but you can't be more wrong. In the UK our own language is English, there is a small minority who can rightly claim their language is Welsh or Gaelic, and a couple Cornish. British Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Christians, atheists etc will usually speak British, even if not their first language.  The vast majority will be able to understand English.   A small percentage, less than two percent, of people living in the UK have little or no English (census data).  It is right that in certain situations eg schools there is signage and information in other languages, providing public information. It is wrong that a political party do this, particularly one who came across as opportunist on this occasion. There is an interesting conversation about British expats living, for example, on the continent, where I expect huge swathes who can hardly say a word of French, Spanish etc.

    • Surely the biggest scandal under Blair's tenure was developments funded under the Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs) where funding came from the private sector at high rates of interest. Around £44 Bn was borrowed for projects which involved costly maintenance contracts for years into the future.
