I know I'm a bit premature but don't want to forget through too much Chrisntas cheer!

Southwark Council Christmas trees recycling arrangements 2025 - bit worrying for the future that they're emphasising the free bit.

"We’ll collect and recycle your real Christmas tree for free!

Trees should not be taller than 5ft. You should chop any taller trees into smaller pieces.

Remove all decorations and the pot or stand and recycle it by:

  • putting your tree with your garden waste containers on collection day
  • requesting a free collection if you do not have a garden waste collection
  • taking it to our Reuse and Recycling Centre [43 Devon Street, SE15 1AL open 08:30-16:30 Mon-Sun]

If you live in a flat you must leave the tree:

  • outside on the kerb
  • visible for the collection crew
  • not in a bin store"

I'll add the link to the collection booking service when it opens on 22 December.

    • Only tend to use Lordship Lane if necessary opting for  Denmark Hill. Or Little Hut (near Nat West Bank, Peckham) who have longer opening hours and offer  Royal mail, Yodel, Inpost.
    • The problem is the Post Office (and not just the one on Lordship Lane) has become a victim of the changing nature of the way things are delivered, the changing volume of things that get delivered, the changing nature of what is being delivered, what is being sent back and the fact delivering those things is a competitive market where it is very difficult to make money.
    • I totally agree about lack of space/resources, in a way it's a victim of its own success as more and more people are using it as a collection point rather than wait in for delivery. My point is, will complaining to the Post Office bring results, though of course I hope it does, or will they just say it's nothing to do with them and to contact the franchisee?
    • Hope, with this cold and horrid weather, Teddy has come home
