Went to LL PO first thing this morning and was dismayed at the condition it was in. The floor was  full of bits of paper, receipts, wrapping paper etc and looked generally dirty. In this weather I could have understood this at closing time but not at 9.30am. There were boxes lying about, some opened. It just looked dirty and uncared for. If it had been a food shop I'd have walked out.

To be fair, if I saw you eating any of the parcels I'd have walked out.

I noticed last night that the illuminated sign now describes this place as the POT OFFICE. Presumably THC vapes are more profitable than being a drop-off point for bloody Evri

Have they still not fixed it? that's pretty shabby. I took this picture on New Year's Day and it's been like this at least since before Xmas.

  • 2 weeks later...

Anyone see news last night? Topic was postal deliveries or lack of them.  Sites an example of postie going on two weeks hols and no back up or temp in place. Showed delivery room packed with letters waiting! Parcels get top priority. Amazing isn’t it as unemployment figures have risen.. wouldn’t have thought it was rocket science  to utilise some of these unemployed folk to help out. Get fresh air, fitter, more than dole  and surely can follow a round since most people are glued to their mobiles. Maybe not happening because of union and can’t imagine they need a dbs! Umm..

I recently sent my granddaughter a birthday card. I posted it really early to make sure it got delivered in time.

Over two weeks  later it still  hasn't arrived,  and in retrospect I think I shouldn't have put "Do not open until 12 February" on the back of the envelope.

I really hope I'm wrong, and I have a suspicious mind, but I wonder if someone somewhere in the postal system thought there was money in it 🙄

Obviously there wasn't, I'm stupid but not that stupid, she got her birthday money by BACS.

You think you've got problems - my partner hasn't received my Valentine's card yet. Posted in the lordship lane post office on morning of 13th Feb first class. As it turns out the same time/place she posted mine! And that hasn't arrived either.

Late delivery of mail should not be blamed on LL Post Office. Delivery of mail is the responsibility of the  distribution office on HighShore Road Peckham.
Things must have been sorted at LL PO as there has been no queue there the last four times I passed by mid-morning.

I'm tempted to ask if the dog ate your homework as well 😂

OOOPS.

My daughter just had to pay a five pound fine.

I hadn't put a stamp on it.

I remember wondering whether to use a  first or second class stamp,  and clearly when I posted it I still hadn't decided (but sadly didn't notice).

I feel really bad for suspecting a postie might have  opened it.

Sorry posties.

Postal deliveries are coming under scrutiny too

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2xy9x27mvo

I've had the strangest PO email about my parcel. To quote

'We've received a request not to deliver mail to the property your item is addressed to today'

Who from? Who would request such a thing!

I think RM put out weird messages like this when they don't have the resources to fulfil the service within the time frame their customer has paid for.  I once had a message regarding a parcel non delivery that they were unable to deliver as my address was inaccessible as if there were severe blizzards or storms. They did however manage to deliver the regular mail that day.

    • Not in the same position but are you able to access the physical meter to take your own readings ? You could do this as frequently as you wanted to. I think TW are rolling out smart meters that don’t need to be physically read by them, and perhaps that’s what you have. I think that TW will only change your monthly direct debit once every 6 months, when you get the official statement.
    • Has anyone else had a water meter fitted in the last couple of years but is not being billed on the actual consumption as measured by the meter. I ask because after our meter was fitted 18 months ago, we could see the actual meter readings on our online account. This was helpful in terms of monitoring the consumption down to a day to day basis. However after about 6 months, the meter readings were no longer published online. I recall earlier advice from TW that  we would have a 12 month "trial" period after which we could opt to switch to metered consumption or stay on the rate based on the rateable value of our house.  As there's only two of us in the house, I reckon our actual consumption is well below the RV based consumption rate so with a bit of cynicism I reckon TW has deliberately discontinued publishing the meter reading.  Had the readings continued to be published, then we could have made an informed decision on whether or not to move to metered billing. Is anyone else in a similar position?

I Pm'd just before Christmas and received no reply which was not like him so I did have concerns about his health but I had no other means of contacting him. R.i.P Foxy Bob S
    • So, private polling for Labour in London puts Labour and the Lib Dems with the same number of seats on Southwark Council come May. It’s not clear from this Guardian article (link below) if that will be all due to Labour losses or if the Lib Dems will actually make some gains in Southwark. Either way, the Greens are set for a massive surge in seats across London, if the polling is correct.
