Could you get away with parking in Sainsbury's car park (Dog Kennel Hill) and walking down to do a quick shop in M&S by the train station?

Yep, it's a 2 hour stay, pretty sure it's less on match days but double check the signage as they do record your reg on entry and exit.

You can park for free for 30 mins in Melbourne Grove round corner and Grove Vale. It's a bit of a pain because you still have to register by phone as if paying but it's a lot closer to M&S. Or you could always go to M&S on Lordship Lane, parking for a short time is fairly easy around there.
