onthemove123
When I got on the bus to travel to Peckham Rye Station at about 9.15am on Tuesday 8th Oct, we had to stop at The Nags Head and walk down Rye Lane, there were lots of emergency services there and lines of buses parked. I vaguely saw a woman on her side - does anybody know if she's okay or what happened? I am not being nosy like the people stood in the street glaring at her, I just wanted to check she was okay. Henry17
I was told that a cyclist collided with an oncoming bus while trying to overtake a rubbish truck, hence the cyclist was on the wrong side of the road. I was also told that when all came to rest the cyclist was positioned just in front of one of the bus front wheels on the road, although it couldn't be seen if they had actually gone under. One point im confused by though was that I was told the cyclist was male, but they could have gotten this detail incorrect. Even though based on what I'm told it would seem in this case the cyclist was on the wrong side of the road, it would not surprise me to hear that the bus driver was partially at fault. Thid is because I have personally observed multiple instances of bus drivers exhibiting a macho attitude on rye lane, accelerating rapidly in the face of oncoming cyclists even when the obstruction is on the driver's side of the road, forcing the cyclist to take diversionary action despite having right of way.
