  1. To quote Peggy Mitchell "Get outta MY pub". And love Louisa's comments!
  2. After I emailed Young?s Brewery on Monday, I have today received an email from their Area Manager and the following has now been implemented: Staff have been warned not to throw/smash bottles in to the recycling bin No reservations are allowed in the front bar, only the restaurant. And the best news ? CHILDREN ARE NOW BANNED from the Front Bar. Thanks!
  3. Jeremy - I am the person they asked to look after their kid!! Staff were unaware that these people were outside, and we left the under staffed creche and went up the road - much better. Otta - can you define "annoying regulars". I am one of them it would appear, so would be nice to know what's annoying about some locals/regulars who REGULARLY go to their LOCAL.
  4. Dear residents, I am a regular of The Clockhouse pub in East Dulwich, go there about 2 to 3 times a week, as well at the weekends. I have been drinking in there for nearly 5 years, and socalise with the regulars, some of whom have been drinking in there for nearly 25 years. We buy drinks and spend money. On Sunday, the place was a joke - it was packed with prams, faces I have never seen before, and no doubt will never see again. On the terrace, about 6 adults took over the area and we noticed they were eating their own food. And inside, a family were eating and had brought in food for their small child. I am sick and tired of my local being invaded at the weekends by snobby families who never go in the pub normally, and who dump prams everywhere and leave hardly any room to get in/out of the pub or get to the bar. I regularly have to say "excuse me" several times to get past. When did the law change so that children were allowed in pubs? It's fine to come to the pub, but don't bring your own food, don't take over the terrace, and don't leave prams in the way.
  5. Hi all, sadly I'm moving out of Each Dulwich and need a man with a van to take all my stuff from my flat to Warwickshire. I'm looking to move the first weekend of November (ideally Sunday 2nd Nov). I need nothing bigger than a transit as don't have any furniture - just 10 years of stuff. If you can please recommend somebody who's good and cheap, please let me know. Thanks
  6. I know there's lots of hype about how good the pizza's are at The Actress and The Gowlett but I had the nicest ever pizza at Si Mangia on Forest Hill Road. Absolutely gorgeous and highly recommend. X
  7. I wonder who that friend was Mrs Chocoholic! Honestly, it's REALLY NICE!!
  8. I agree - people don't help - I ALWAYS do! There is a disused lift to Platforms 1 and 2, when I was complaining about the station, Southern said there were plans to do something about this but would be a while.
  9. I got the 0913 this morning from Peckham Rye, they announced it was terminating at South Bermondsey as there was overcrowding at London Bridge, and we were told to wait on the platform for the 0928, the train arrived and it was packed and then we waited 15 minutes outside London for an avaiable platform - ABSOLUTE JOKE! Whilst waiting for the platform, and EMPTY train whizzed past instead of making our train a priority.
  10. According to the man behind the counter at Pizza Pan, all of the shops on the parade are being knocked down and turned into flats? I am not sure if this will be the case for Roy Brooks and The Vets - as they seem quite newly refurbished. Also, does anybody know what happened on Barry Road on Sunday afternoon - there was 2 fire engines (but no smoke) and police everywhere - in a house just opposite Turners Tyres?? Thanks

  12. The row of shops looks so depressing - and I have heard that there are squatters in the old cab office. It could be so nice, so hopefully something will happen to it, it's 1930s and it looks like it needs a good refurb, it would be so nice to have a cafe, greengrocers, off-license or something similar. Yee Wah was alright, but have you seen the cooker at the front of the shop - it's FILTHY!! Best Chinese I get delivered to my house is from Mayflower, they are based in West Dulwich, but deliver to SE22, food is fresh, doesn't taste oily or fatty and it's a decent price - and you can order via the hungry house app. Thanks
  13. Does anybody know what's happening or happened to the shops opposite The Clockhouse at the Peckham Rye end of Barry Road. The pizza place, Chinese and Indian takeaways are all closed and have been for a while - the cooker of Yee Wah was in the front of the shop and it was FILTHY! The Estate Agents and Barbers are still open, but just wondering if any plans have been made - it could be a lovely parade, but it looks so grim at the moment. Thanks
  14. I do think that's a lot, but it's not an independent pub, it's part of The Young's Chain, hence why their drinks are also so expensive!
  15. Louisa! Perfect words! Last night, I met a really nice person outside the arches and he said "God, do you live near this", children running around passengers, not looking where they were going, loads of hair weave in the street, and all of the hair salons had food, packaging and general crap just thrown on the floor, it was awful! I can't wait for all of it to be knocked down - if I threw stuff into the street outside my, I could get done for fly-tipping. None of the hair salons have ANY respect for commuters using the station, if I had children, I woulnd't let them run around a train staition un-supervised and if I was supervising them and I saw a flood of people walking through the arch, I ask my child to move out of the way - they don't. It's a FILTHY area that I have to walk through every morning and night and I can't wait for it to go!
  16. The Gardens Surgery, The Gardens (opp Peckham Rye), I always see Dr Stevens or Dr Cliffe, both great.
  17. Bar staff at the Clockhouse are the BEST! It's like being in the Queen Vic, some nights.
  18. I agree, a lot of the pubs around SE22 have really slow bar staff.
  19. Clockhouse has good wifi and even works on the terrace.
  20. The nicest chinese I have had is from Mayflower in SE21, they deliver to SE22 and their food is really nice - much better than Yee Wah on Barry Road and MUCH better than the shit food served at the one on Upland Road.
  21. For people that need London Bridge (me being one of them), I was planning to get the Overground to Canada Water, change onto the Jubilee Line to London Bridge and then I can get on the bank branch of the Northern Line - or is there an easier way?
  22. Is it? Isn't it? I am talking about the race from one end of Barry Road to the other, ending up at The Clocky?
  23. My mates aren't sexist, and the comments made about the women who shared a pot of coffee came from a WOMAN! The ladies I refer to are the ones who seem to take over the pubs at the weekends with their snotty male partners who are working in the city during the week, earning thousands, but just not that much that they can afford to live in Clapham or Notting Hill, so then end up in East Dulwich. These are the sort of people who are disrespectful to regulars who drink at the locals pubs all the time (and before you ask, no we're not alcoholics). One such couple at The Clockhouse once asked me to look after their baby who was asleep in a pram outside, as they drank and ate inside the pub, and would I mind "popping in if he wakes up".
  24. I agree, although not from London originally, I moved to London and lived North of the River until 5 years ago when I came to East Dulwich - I have met some lovely people over the years, neighbours and regulars at my local and I agree that recently Clapham has come to SE22 - I feel that most of the pubs I drink in very regularly are overtaken by snotty middle-class idiots, especially at the weekends. I hear stories from mates that during the daytime, hurds of "yummy mummy's" spend all day taking over a pub or cafe and only share one pot of coffee between them.
  25. Hi all, not sure if there's any more news on this, but as I walked into Peckham Rye Station this morning, there was a security van parked under the arches near McDonalds and there was an automated message saying "this security van is under attack, please call the police". Thankfully there were 2 police officers in Peckham Rye Station so I told them to get outside and check it out. I hope nobody is hurt.
