Help - electrician wanted to mend/replace smoke alarm

Hi

Our smoke alarm is bleeping non stop. It is mains wired with a battery back up but the cover simply won't come off so that I can replace the battery. Can anyone recommend a qualified electrician to help with this one asap? Even my determined builder couldn't lever the thing off.

Hi Susannaj..

I had a little Google about this...

It would seem you may need to turn OFF the Electricity Supply before you can Open your Smoke Alarm

This is a Safety Precaution due there being LIVE Circuitry inside the device.
