lightweight
Our primary school is closed this Thursday for a teacher's strike - any thoughts on what we can do to fill the day locally or maybe not so locally? enjoy
Hi,we once hired a community hall and had a two hours get together.Toys, cakes, juice, but our kids were only little (around 4 years)Everybody paid two pounds to cover the costs.Otherwise a trip into town, one of the great museums without the half term crowds.enjoy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37409-strike-day-ideas-thursday/#findComment-687251 Share on other sites
lightweight
I have probably left it a bit late to organise the community hall but that is a great idea and something I'll try and plan for the next one - just hoping that doesn't come around too soon. bkkmei
Hilast INSET day, we went to the Transport Museum in Covent Garden. It's GBP15 per adult, and the pass lasts a year. Kids go free. A really nice museum where it's OK for kids to zoom around and lots to interest adults too. You can bring your own lunch as there's a small eating area (together with mini-vehicles where you can pretend to drive a bus/train/boat), or otherwise loads of places to eat around. Easy to get to on the 176 bus (get off at Strand).Of course, around there's Covent Garden itself, or a walk to Trafalgar Square, or a walk across Waterloo Bridge to the South Bank where there could be stuff happening - last time my kids just wanted to climb and play around some sculptures outside the theatres.Reckon that should last a day! Anna M
We have the same - Granny's taking him to the Science Museum for the day. But perhaps the Transport Museum will be easier to get to!
