Recommendation needed for someone to repair wooden floor

I've had the joy of a leaking water mains pipe which is leaking under the foundations of my home!

Currently in the process of sorting but the Leak Detection Specialist had to cut though my lovely laid wooden floor to access the pipe. I now have a 1 foot x 6 foot space that needs relaying. The LDS took away the wood - not sure that was such a good idea - so I need someone who could work out what type of wood I have laid and then source and lay the wood. I'd rather avoid relaying an entire floor if possible.

Not sure if I need a carpenter or a different kind of craftsman. My insurers need 2 x estimates and I'm very keen to get this fixed asap.

Your recommendations are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

    • Unfortunately I've had very bad experiences with John Lewis technical help department, who have more than once given me completely wrong information, and once had to pay me compensation as a result. In any case unless you bought the phone there I'm not sure they would help? A local phone shop might, though.
    • Just had three areas of damp expertly dealt with by JKA Damp proofing & Plastering. Each area had a different cause and Jonathan diagnosed and explained the problems comprehensively. The family firm then carried out all the necessary repairs having prepped each area meticulously. The work was done to the highest standard and then everything was cleared up beautifully. I would wholeheartedly recommend the firm if you have damp problems!
    • hi Tom I'd ask a teenager. I'd lend you mine but they are asleep.  Pop into a phone shop and ask for help with it. It's quite straightforward, but easier once you know.
    • I switched from one samsung phone to another Samsung phone about a couple of years or so ago. Now I may be misremembering but what I think I  did was to 1. Open a samsung account which gave me access to Samsung's cloud. 2. Uploaded what i wanted to transfer to new phone to the cloud. It gives a choice of which categories to upload. 3. Log in to samsung on new phone then download stuff from cloud onto new phone. I was very hesitant but I remember it was quite simple and straightforward, I surprised myself. I do keep all photos and documents on other clouds which means I can access the same file/photo from different devices, and agree with Sue about accessing emails. Good Luck!
