Bitten by dog on Heber Road

I was bitten by a smallish dog (black terrier type), in lead, yesterday afternoon (Monday 2 March, approx 1.15pm) at the corner of Heber Road and Cyrena Road.  Nothing too serious, but I have a small wound on my calf and a hole in my jeans.

The owner (a middle aged woman) couldn't control her dog, pretended it didn't happen and did a runner. 

I managed to take a picture of her as she walked away.  Not a great picture but if you recognise her could you please DM some info so I can report the incident? 

If only to ensure that she is spoken to, as this is obviously a dangerous dog and is not under control...

You need to get medical attention if you haven't already. Dog's mouths, where bites have penetrated the skin, can be riddled with nasties. You need an antibiotic shot from A&E.

As I've said before, it's time to ban dog ownership. 

Society today is too selifsh and irresponsible for the public to be trusted with keeping dogs. They are also an environmental disaster.

Yeah 

Ban people, that will solve all the planets environmental issues over night 

Leave the dogs as they aren't the problem, its normally bad ownership and management that leads to badly behaved dogs.

As a compromise I'd be prepared to trial the reintroduction of dog licensing.

The annual licence fee would be the same as road tax for Range Rover (same carbon emissions as a dog) and would require owners to pass a responsible dog ownership exam, the dogs would need to pass training and a behaviour exam and their DNA would need to be kept on record to identify the owners who leave dog shit all over the pavements, so that they can be jailed.

Suggest you report to your local police. I think Heber/Cyrena  come under Goose Green SNT. But you may want to go to the police team which covers your home address.

Suggest you contact GP surgery and get some antibiotics just in case.

Yes, do report it even if you cannot get info about the owner.  It’s likely that the dog has bitten other people (and dogs) already or will go on to do it again. I’ve been bitten by dogs in the past, owned by people I knew and they had bitten previously. One bit my face when I was putting her lead on. She had recently - about a week before - bitten the hand of a vicar who had been to discuss the wedding of the owners’ son.  The son was a doctor and he advised me to go to the hospital to start a new series of tetanus jabs.  I took his advice.  Unusual behaviour by a dog can also indicate health problems.

I hope you have sought medical attention as well.  You should have antibiotics as well, as someone else has said. You could get sepsis too.
