Recruiting: Sunday Morning Footballers Mixed Skill Mixed Ages on Peckham Rye

Recommended Posts

Calling All Gents interested in weekly

football...

We are a pool of mixed level local chaps aged

between 25 and 55 who play on Peckham Rye every

Sunday morning. We are looking to boost our group

as sometimes life gets in the way of football! We

play just the right side of competitive and

generally between 5 & 8 a-side. We set goals up,

have bibs etc, and play for 40 minutes per half.

We've been running around that park for a about

four years now.

We welcome all newcomers who believe they can play

most weeks. If you are interested please reply

with your name and email to this thread, and we'll

drop you a line (if before end of play Friday). If

we haven't got back to you for any reason please

feel free to meet us at 10:00am Sunday on the bench

in Peckham Rye almost opposite The Clock House.

Ask for Zavier, Lee, Pete, Phil or Pritpal.

If you you feel the need to rekindle that playing

in the park spirit you will love it!

    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
    • Thanks for posting this. Really interesting. It would be good if you added a star rating, so that it was easier to do comparisons / see what your top recommendations are. Great blog though!
